Re: Where are stats for mithril items?
Hope that provides some food for thought. Personally, apart from being pretty and not hurting elf-kind, I wouldn't really give mithril any other benefits as it starts to advantage the Elf too much then, imo. Colin But we don't care about balance, now do we? Personally I'd make it lighter (-1d) on t...

Re: Crawl! no.6 Classic Class Collection! Now on Sale!
Note that a character’s occupation need not be determined randomly. If a player has a strong sense of the character’s background, he should feel free to use it. Starting trained weapon and trade goods can be determined thematically with the judge’s approval. Not in my game! Reeks of optimization to...

Re: The DCC RPG Economy. I think the prices are off.
Thanks to imperialus. I looked at 'Grains To Gold' and it reconciles closely with DCC RPG prices. The only thing is that the idea that all characters have never held a gold coin is not 100%, as wages of most folks are around 5-7 silvers a day. Now I know a lot of pay may be paid in non-coin/barter, ...

Re: Where are stats for mithril items?
Possiblities include, but are not limited to: lighter weight (possibly manifesting as a lessened armor check and fumble die), more durable, rust resistant, counted as silver for harming creatures only harmed by silver or vulnerable to silver I would rule probably all of this. But then I would have ...

So you'd rule that anyone with night vision (darkvision) would also get light sensitivity? Makes sense.

Re: infravision...need rules clarified please
Not to sh!t stir, but I read the races/class descriptions again last night. I would rule in my own game that Infravision=Darkvision. Seeing heat signatures allows too many wonky scenarios, though as Dak said, that could be used for gm fun and profit. I suppose Infravision is more Appendix N though. ...

Re: Crawl! no.6 Classic Class Collection! Now on Sale!
I received my issue yesterday in sunny Florida... Woot! Love the art, the cover is money. I dug all the classes, but I don't like the ranger dual wielding thing. At. All. I'd cut that part out in my campaign but use the rest "as is". Love the new spell. Love the thief article, but I worry ...

Re: The DCC RPG Economy. I think the prices are off.
ACKS is great for managing and establishing domains and such, but the price list is still off in the typical OSR way. Way too much gold! I'm almost thinking of converting a lot of costs straight from gold to silver pieces, except for really expensive things like armor. I remember that a broadsword r...

Re: Larger modules to come?
I like the shorter modules best. I have enough trouble running the existing catalog in 3, sometimes 4 sessions. I also have two story ideas which I think, with judicious editing, I could cram into 1K stories which I would like to submit into an issue of Rev. Dak's Crawl , but I haven't started writ...

Re: Some more rules questions
Because instead of taking a result of 20 and all the usual critical stuff to the roll, you instead roll with a +20 bonus on top of the rest of your typical stuff which could result in something like a 40+ check result. Yeah, and even if they do roll a one, they could just burn a luck point to avoid...

Re: Some more rules questions
I don't understand. How is giving them an option to roll the d20 going to get a higher potential roll result than 20? Re: infravision...need rules clarified please
To me, "infravision" means to see heat signatures. "Darkvision" means to see in the dark. Does the rulebook say "they can see in the dark for 30'/60'/whatever?

Re: Best funnel for young players? Advice sought.
- Save someone (especially an animal) - Train an animal...or monster...they all want pets - Give them a "weird" henchman -- in D&D this was invariably a kobold, but it could be anything - Give them opportunities to do other stuff These are awesome ideas. I remember some old DnD module...

Re: Some more rules questions
Raven_Crowking and I disagree about whether a Cleric ought to be able to spellburn divine aid, although the rules don't forbid it they do specifically say Clerics can't spellburn spell checks under normal circumstances. Also, Bless can provide longer lasting bonuses to spell checks; other spells or...

Best funnel for young players? Advice sought.
For now I think the only way I will be able to play DCC RPG is running for my 11 y.o. son. But I don't want to run the wrong kind of stories for his age. My preference would be for Sailors of the Starless Sea, I love that one. Do you think that has too much occult material for a kid? I was thinking ...

I'll be using RavenCrowking's impromptu spell learning for wizards/elves http://ravencrowking.blogspot.ca/2012/05/dcc-new-house-rule-learning-spells-on.html From the blog post: "The effects of both Mercurial Magic checks take place whenever the wizard or elf casts this spell." Isn't this ...

Re: outside the box
I've dreamed of a conversion of Darklands for a while. Great video game set in medieval Germany. Very sandbox and innovative in the RPG realm. High points are: Alchemist class (and a detailed alchemy system), Clerics that are similar to DCC wizards (saints are their "patrons"), great, wha...
