For information purposes: We used a variation of my propossed mounted combat. We assume all the mounted people made their horse combat rolls at exactly 1/2 of allowed rolls, all for knights, just base and spec for cavalry. Sidenote: I (Knight) had pulled "rank". I was not under the peace knot law, having claimed the noble right to bear arms. So I did not clear the knot at "battle" start. The Mystic had cleared the knot while the old man and Rager were talking too, I recall.

Ahhhh but I did need better speed, how else was I going to skirmish them to death? :)

The die (dice) verus foot, is to be used with any weapon. But a light horse getting +1D4 is good. (edit: Though +2 circumstance modifier for height advantage workes better)

The knight/cavalry occupations have mastery <horse> in their lists. There does not seem to be any effect for having this mastery. Comparing Runequest and Eldritch would not be fair, Runequest comes with a rich world and everyone uses any skill and has magic. It was the first classless/levelless game. In Runequest, we call the light spell on an arrow a Flare. We used it to light an area. You have to target a surface for the light spell, and since you can't see any thing over there you have to send the light. Hmmmm, if that last fireball had hit PCs and not the door: the mystic warriorgoes down, and the rander gets to fight 3-4 hile hurt. ie dies. So yes the tactics saved the player group. Rereading the thread, How about Willpower being used as Armor versus spells? How about just Harm ones?

Tap self: Can not be used to heal. Question: Can is be used to boost Spell Heal? Can it boost Arcane focus?

another caster can cast Mantle on that tank and refill deflect if he rolls higher than the (current or original?) values. Which is it? The current value when the spell lands, or the value of first caster's roll?

A note on stacking. (Mantle): We are not allowing any stacking, right? What if a group has a couple of casters in support. They both cast Mantle on tank. I say only the highest effect sticks. To avoid the power armor that could occur, one magic armor die per receipent sound good to the DM me. The player now OhNO! I say go with the one per person or ecpect 3d6 + normal armor in mose sessions.

The first edition of Star Wars RPG used catagory ranges (Point blank; short; medium; long; extreme) for the starship combat. Give each weapon a max catagory; and give each catagory a modifier (based on perception mostly). Does need how long to cross the catagory, but we're doing that no more or less...

I have seen so many values for the ranges of missle weapons. I have come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter that much. Most ore to long for the individual target style of RPGs, based as they are on military unit fire. So the only thing that matters is that thrown weapons are shorter range than...

I have found that it gets dull, when the result is obvious. If there is a least uncertainy, each round is interesting. Thus the big bag of hit point battle are dull, until near the end.
