Re: 3d6, in order
It's interesting how many people accept this, in spite of the fact that they haven't regularly played it this way. We've had an entire generation of gamers raised on "roll 4d6, drop the lowest score, and then assign your stats as you see fit." There are some funny comments on Grognardia r...

While ours is not an "official" playtest, if you happen to live in the St. Louis area and are interested in trying out DCC RPG on Sunday evenings from about 6:30PM to 10:30PM, send me a personal message. Damned Atlantic Ocean!! There has to be someone on your side of the pond who can down...

Re: Level Cap
I'm fine for just 10 levels personally but would still by higher level support in a supplement.birthright wrote:Personally, I think that 10 levels is a feature of DCC RPG, something that sets this game apart from so many of the others. 10 levels is so old-school too. Please KEEP 10 levels for the core book!

Re: Spells, and what to do with them.... [long]
From what little we know so far (playtesters) aside I'm with Harley. I think the spells sound great, and any wizard player worth his salt comes to my table with a spell book, even if I have to supply it. Would I like to see some of the series spells amalgamated...probably but the modern D&D list...

Re: Upcoming playtests of DCC RPG
Whilst I'm a little uncertain about the dice I do think the magic sounds very cool. 4e (and to a lesser extent 3e) length of combat and for 3e prep time is what drives me to new pastures. I have high hopes for DCC rpg that it will effectively capture all that I enjoyed in earlier editions whilst pro...

Re: Designer’s Blog #4: Adventuring in DCC RPG
Well speaking from patchy memory a lot of whats already been mentioned, clever use of tactics involving environment (especially size), traps, magic and numbers etc. I vaguely remember them using a lot of hit and run tactics.
At some point I'll have to dig it out and read again.

I wouldn't mind having a go at adapting the Falcon Trilogy from Greyhawk or maybe do something with To find a king and its sequel.

May have already been mentioned but does anyone remember Dragon Mountain for 2e? There was some great advice / setup for keeping kobolds relevant at higher levels than usual.

Re: Upcoming playtests of DCC RPG
I'm really looking forward to the Beta, I'll need to convince my group to let me run a game with them. They weren't interested in the Pathfinder playtest since they saw no reason for the game to change, although we're fine with those they made. Is there going to be formal reporting structure? Or can...

Re: Why I love the DCC RPG
I know it's early days but are Goodman thinking about doing an adventure path style DCC to go with the game? Or at least a series like the Punjar adventures, I loved those.

Re: Designer’s Blog #4: Adventuring in DCC RPG
Actually, the Kobolds didn't so much kill the characters outright as much as lead them into traps. The Kobolds lured a Giant Spider to the party but the party killed the spider outright, without breaking a sweat. A couple of the Kobolds died here too. But there were others who were watching from ho...

Where can I get more info about the DCC rpg? I've started reading the threads here but anything else? Podcasts or blogs? You can find everything on the forums. Even links to noteworthy blogposts, but here are few of the latest: http://jrients.blogspot.com/2011/03/few-garycon-iii-images.html http://...

Why I love the DCC RPG
I missed out on getting a lot of the early Goodman stuff since I didn't hear about them till 4e was released. After that I grabbed every 4e product they published and just loved the writing style (I even grabbed a few 3.5 despite being over saturated with product already). Since my group didn't make...

I'm quite looking forward to the DCC Rpg. I'm always nostalgic for that old scholl feel but don't really like retro clones since I have the original source material.
This promises to be a fun and new exploration of that old timey religion

Slay a few NPC's they've become attached to and they'll never feel the same about enemies escaping again. Beware however this can result in a party that goes hell for leather against their opponents regardless of consequences
