I discovered C&C this summer when I was looking for an old edition variant for some friends of mine that havent' done RPGs. I looked at HackMaster and it was too much to take in. Then I found C&C which I was really impressed with. I liked the philosophy of the design which is basically the m...

The thing is that a lot of people hate change. Gamers fall into two groups. The first group will play any game, and they love to try new things and experiment. The second likes they tried and true approach; They've invested a lot of time in a game and they like the comfort zone that it provides. I'm...

I think WOTC has made it extremely clear that 4E is going to be much more of a powergaming munchkins fantasy come true than even 3E is. Doesn't take much brains to see the truth of that. And there's one vote for me having no brains. They have....? I must have been dozing.... I know I will...

yeah, we are a bunch of old farts. We can finally say, " yeah, I remember back when you had a dagger, three hit points, and a sleep spell." I'm not saying that fourth edition is going to be a bad game, I'm just saying that I just don't like how they are monkeying with the game for the sake...

A good game is a good game whether its developed by a bunch of corporate boot licking nerdlings or not. I really can't say that 4e is going to suck, teens will probably love it. The older crowd not so much Anyway I just don't like they way its been presented to the gaming public. They come out and t...

Thomas, You did a nifty job explaining the game. Now I have a picture in head to go by. Again, I'm looking forward to this game. I'm a school teacher so I have the summers off, and this summer I toyed around with making my own homebrew RPG for me and my nephews to play. This was because most things ...

well, Treebore I still think criticizing something before you see it is a dumb idea. I think that they are catering to the munchkinism, that's what the kiddos want. And, by the way, I play Castles and Crusades exclusively. Its the true third edition Dungeons and Dragons. I agree with you all the way.

I think that 4e has the potential to be a good game, and criticizing it before we see it is stupid. BUT , I think that they way WOTC is going about it is just plain stupid. Yeah, Its a cash grab. WOTC wants World of WarCraft money. They want 7 million people to pay them 15 bucks a month. hell, who w...

What are some things we all hate about RPGs?

Don't get me wrong, I love RPGs. I'm an old school gamer who has played Dungeons and Dragons and the old D6 StarWars game, but there are a lot of things about RPG's that I don't like that I hope the Dungeoneer RPG will address. Heres my list. .. 1. reigning in cranky GM's 2. getting rid of the feeli...

So explain the flow of a typical dungeoneer game. . .

Since this is a hybrid game, and its got some roots in a lot of dungeon crawl boardgames, how will a Dungeoneer RPG session differ from a typical Dungeons and Dragons session? I've already mentioned some things I don't like about RPG games in other posts. One thing I don't like is the down time betw...

Is it possible to convert Dungeon Crawl Classics ?

I'll come out and ask... Will there be a way to convert dungeon crawl classics to the dungeoneer RPG? Will there be some dungeon crawl classics that are written specifically for dungeoneer? Or is dungeoneer going to do its own things with its own expansions and "never the twain shall meet?"

Sounds like this game keeps things even and fair. When I GM, depending on the group i want to reserve the right to nail the players with a tough combat when the time is right, and really nail them when they deserve it. Like when someone gets caught trying to pick pocket the captain of the guard. It ...

I think that another thing that RPG's have been missing is structure. I know that when I ran a Castles and Crusades game recently with my GF and some of our friends, they were not really sure about what they were supposed to do. The idea of a hybrid game sounds good. Dungeons and Dragons came out in...

Hey warpweaver, This sounds absolutely awesome. Its the missing link that RPGs have had for a long time: As a player, How do you keep a GM from crapping on you and as a GM how do you go after the players without looking like you're blatantly trying to butcher them? Now its objective and their won't ...

So what's gamemastering gonna be like?

So whats the game mastering end of this game gonna be like? Is it going to be one of those games where the GM has sit back and " story tell" and protect the heros like sheep for the sake ot his precious campaign? Or can he get competitive and try to nail their miserable hides to the wall?

I'd like to hear all about it.

I'm an old gamer thats pushing forty and I can remember when +1 sword was a big thing. What you guys are attempting to do is absolutely fabulous. I've been playing games with my nephews and trying to get them ready to play dungeons and dragons. First thing I did was go out and buy the boardgame Desc...
