Gah! That doesn't appear to be any more streamlined than 3.5. Bad news... I was really hoping this new edition would be simpler! Well, it is a pit fiend, so it's probably at the top end of stat block complexity. I think we will see more streamlining with lower-level monsters, stuff in the 1-10 leve...

I know it's a bit early, but will Goodman Games be at the D&D experience (formerly Winter Fantasy) in February? They will be offering the first demos of 4E, and as a d20 publisher, I'll be there taking notes.

Really, there's no perfect formula for making challange appropriate monsters. Playtesting certainly helps, but not every group is the same, or uses the same tactics, so you can get wildly different outcomes with different groups of similar characters. I've worked on a lot of the Xcrawl products, and while I enjoyed reading them as an editor, it doesn't hold a candle to actually playing. So, Brendan, I just wanted to say that the short crawl you ran for us Sunday morning was one of the best games I've ever played in. Thanks, I had a frickin' blast...

It was great to finally meet everyone and swap tales of suffering and woe with the other members of the Whiterock team.

I still can't believe we finished that beast before GenCon.
