Any recommendation for a sandbox ?
ideally, I am looking for something in which I can fit Doom of the Savage Kings in it as I plan to use Hirot as the PC campaining base. I guess I could also fit the Emerald Enchanter as another adventure location. What else would you add as I want to give my players some choice in their next adventu...

Re: Mighty deed of arms and other classes
Mighty deeds of arms is a fun system and we use it a lot in my table. Recently, however, the thief in my group tried to trip a enemy, which I adjudicated as a luck check, but now I wonder what you think about those kind of situations. Does allowing the other classes to perform deeds makes the warri...

Re: How long do torches and lanterns burn in DCC?
I have a 30 minute hourglass on my gaming table. This is how long your torch will last. In game time, this represent a variable amount of turns but I find it works really well by putting the players themselves under pressure. « As you debate what you do next, you can see that your torch starts to fl...

Re: "Can I roll a perception check?"
For perception checks, which are the most common checks in my experience, I use the following principles: 1. Don’t use them 99% of the time. Pay attention to your descriptions instead. If the player has a chance of noticing something, then there should be a hint of that something somewhere in you de...

Re: What do you think of this home brew skill system?
Skills is where I personally draw the line between OSR and non-OSR. I have basically stolen the system from « Beyond the Wall ». You could use an attribute check instead but the problem is that they do not scale with level. What I do instead is to use Save checks in place of Skill checks and not bot...

Re: Very basic question about Luck and modifiers
So if you have to recalculate the Luck modifier at every loss of Luck points, how does this square up with the rules that states that you cannot regain luck points easily ?
If you are at -3 luck modifier, you could be there for a very long time

Re: How to handle player losing all their characters
Change your perspective: DCC has serious a Punk/No Future vibe to it. Embrace it. In many classic rpg, you spend a lot of time crafting the backstory of the PC who in essence as plot immunity because you've spent too much time on it. What attracts me in DCC, is that you play instead to discover what...
