I've had luck with Accursed Heart of the World Ender. Also, for shorter sessions, a lot can be shaved off by assuming decisions for the party that will have no effect on the adventure.

I wasn't aware of the changing composition of The Band across DCC modules, so thank you for pointing that out. However, nothing is radical about the idea of a 50/50 gender split. I like this request too. The more diversity that's depicted in the artwork, the more people are likely to see themselves in the game, which has all kinds of value for increasing inclusivity in the hobby.
