Re: Zero-level Character Concepts ?.
I'm always judging so I don't often create characters. But when I do (and my players too) I tell them to give them simple names once they do something cool. And then give them a "descriptive name" once they move up to Level 1. For example: my dwarven miner, was named Donald once he did his...

Re: What other Appendix N inspired settings would you like to see?
I would like to see Stormbringer/Elric/Hawkmoon (in other words the world of Michael Moorcock).
Barsoom would be cool but I'm pretty sure Modiphius Entertainement has the rights.
It's not appendix N but Discworld by Terry Pratchett would be fun.

Re: Any chance for a Castle Whiterock update to 5E?
I'm guessing if the "Crypt of the Devil Lich" Kickstarter has good results, it would be an incentive to update the "Castle Whiterock" the same way. Personally, I'm really happy that "Crypt of the Devil Lich" has been updated to DCC rules. It's probably also cost efficie...

I think I'll place and order next time they're on special on DTRPG. No plans on running them 5e but with DCC it would be fun!

Re: A request regarding adventure formatting
1) I agree about this point. I would like shaded boxes but I wonder if it might make the text more difficult to read (contrast). 2) Also agreed. But even though the new trend is to put only bullet points and limit long block texts and descriptions, I still enjoy reading a text than just a "list...

Have any backers received their copy? Everything is done on BackerKit except the "your order has shipped" step. Last update was January 5th saying to look for something in the mail.

Re: Switching my group to DCC
First off, welcome to DCC! I was thinking the People of the Pit, but think the plot might be a little too similar to Doom to do them back to back. I was thinking the same thing because the summaries of the adventures are so similar, but after reading Meadhelm's Road Crew report, Pariahs Pitted Again...

There was an interesting discussion about it during the " Bride of Cyclops Con - What's New With Goodman Games " starting at 1:19:30. Joseph talked about finishing the editing in January 2021. My guess is a Kickstarter in Spring or early Summer 2021... Anybody else have something more prec...

We learned at Bride of Cyclops Con that they're working on a Hardcover reprint. Late 2021 or early 2022. More info in the "Bride of Cyclops Con - AMA with Joseph Goodman" video on YouTube starting at 44:35.

Re: Need help with my campaign!
They've done the great Sailors of the Starless Sea at an earlier time, and I plan to do Doom when they get to the Land of the Eight Cities. I wonder how other people link together DCC adventures, or does everyone play one offs? Honestly, I like it that the DCC modules can take about 3 to 5 sessions...

Re: Throwing a ball of force (Force Manipulation spell)
I actually rule it the other way, that you have to throw it with an attack roll. Because you can hurl it, but you don't have to hurl it, you could do something else with it (like, use it to stop a door from completely closing or something). If you could somehow "telekinetically" make it f...

Re: Throwing a ball of force (Force Manipulation spell)
I would say it depends how you interpret the spell: 1 - It's a ball and you have to throw it "manually" so you have to do a additional missile check (Agility). 2 - It's a ball of force that the wizard created and has full control. Therefore, it will hit whatever (within reason) he wants it...

Re: Need help with my campaign!
There's Doom of the Savage Kings that is fairly "normal". The hound of Hirot isn't over the top and there's a lot of role-play invoolved. I would recommend that. Maybe have the innkeeper write to somebody in Lankhmar that they know and ask for help with the whole situation in Hirot. Sailor...

Re: DCC Summoner - Yet Another Character Generator
Wow! That is really cool! I love the 8-bit DOS/Basic look. I think you should ask the "To hit" modifier next to the weapon as well as the damage and modifier. That's always useful. I'm pretty sure the Core-Rule Book character generation is the same as the Quick Start Rules so there shouldn...

Re: Divine Magic used by Wizards
Per the rulebook: Wizards and clerics tap into different kinds of magic. Wizards specialize in the better-known fields of black magic, elemental magic, and enchantment. Clerics receive the direct assistance of their gods in a style of magic called idol magic, which may or may not be similar to the p...

Re: Color Spray spell keeps winning battles
Happened again. Charged into a guard post in DCC Lankhmar where there were 6 ghouls. Cast color spray - 4 of them instantly unconscious, pretty much end of the battle. I hate that damn spell, and the rule that you roll to save using the caster's roll as the DC is ridiculous, because it makes the sa...

Re: Ghouls easier to hit?
Where do you get your +2 from? The only place I see where it can come from is in the location below of the stat block (+3 in this example). If that is indeed what you mean, it's the attack modifier the ghoul has. So you roll your D20, add 2 (the +2) and you have to hit higher than the PCs AC. Beetle...

The practical difference however is fairly negligible, which is why I tend to just go with the Dice Chain for situational things. Agreed but don't forget that there is an important psychological difference. It's way more fun rolling a bigger dice! :D In a way, the dice chain is the equivalent of Ad...

Re: The Doomed Turnip Kings Turn Up for the Doom of the Savage Kings (Session 1, 10/13/2020) (Road Crew game 8)
I love following your adventures. So if I understand correctly, your players went through Tower of the Black Pearl as a funnel and are now playing Doom of the Savage Kings as 1st level characters. I'm curious about some things about the Meta Game. Was it obvious for each player what class each villa...

Re: City Maps & Settings
Ok, so it's not a city and might not suit your needs but I find that "Doom of the Savage Kings" has a pretty good town map. It's small but in a way it captures the essence of DCC RPG: " Most everyday peasants in a medieval setting never travel more than a few miles from their places o...
