In mid high-five, Marvin cackles to Jenkins. "We did it! Ancient evil destroyed!" He hugs everyone, and then kneels at the bodies of their slain compatriots. "These men, and the others who died earlier on this adventure, will be remembered in our hearts as the true heroes of the day. ...

Marvin, bellows in pain after his severe tentacle-lashing. "NO! I will prevail!". The tax collector leaps heroically up to the pedestal and inserts the spear in the fashion his visions have compelled him to do. OOC: Dead-dead? Ow; I'm sorry if my dithering resulted in your death. Just wasn...

OOC: Sounds good. Marvin will take the plunge next round, assuming he lives.

OOC: Damage roll=6.

OOC PS: Well, what do you guys think? Do we want to bury the spear (insert favorite off-color joke here), or resist?

OOC: I was hoping the sleeves would be proof against Will Saves. Ridiculous, I know, but worth a shot. He gets an 8, but I'd like to burn seven more Luck points to make it a 15. Why not, leaves him with 6 (from an original 14). If that is groovy: Marvin lifts the spear, and the overwhelming otherwor...

Marvin sees the wide berth that the creature is giving to the spear, and runs to it. He pulls his sleeves over his hands to create makeshift gloves, and tries to lift the thing - intending to use it to find out if their foe has a heart.

OOC: Yeah, no, I get that. I just mean, is there any mechanical means by which Marvin would need to qualify to notice that as well?

OOC: Is there an intelligence check to put together the spear and the creature? ("The creature is clearly giving it a wide berth")

Marvin once again swings at the enemy. Once again, he misses. He's not much of a longsword guy.

OOC: Longsword roll 9, so I won't bother to burn the luck this round.

OOC: Awesome. Marvin burns 1 Luck to get a 15.

OOC: Marvin's Fort Save is a 14. Can you burn luck to raise a save? I'd do that if I can.

Otherwise, the 2d6 roll is 11.

Marvin shrieks in fury at the notion that someone might wish to take his newly-acquired gold, and slashes with his longsword at the foe. Unfortunately, the swipe is more decorative than functional.

OOC: Longsword roll 2.

OOC: My group rolls a 9.

Marvin frowns. "Well, we tried. Shall we?" And he sprints after the jester.

Marvin looks askance at the spear. "Well, what do we do about that thing? It obviously made poor Xim nutty as a catbird."

Marvin, fearing the imminent death of his small friend, sidles up to Xim. "You're right, we absolutely need to get to the altar... look, a muskrat!" He points into the corner, and then takes advantage of Xim's confusion to jump on him. "GET HIM!" he yells, as he tries to subdue t...

OOC: Marvin doesn't have rope, but is ready to pounce.

Xim, exasperated at the clear ignorance and wrong-headedness of the rest in the group, strides off to place the spear.

Marvin looks at the others. "Why, exactly, do we care if that fellow wants to do himself in? I say we rest. We can go pick up his body in the morning."

OOC: What did Xim's Will Save roll of 11 result in?

OOC: Sure thing. Xim rolls an 11.

Xim turns and regards his companions, as if seeing them for the first time. "But, I have to get the spear on the altar! Surely you all see that?"

OOC: I'm not sure the nature of Xim's compulsion; I am guessing from the way it was written that there are no mechanical parameters for Xim to be failing his Will Save?

Xim immediately strides off toward the room in which Ken Katcherman and Lyanna had died, yelling over his shoulder, "Come on! We have to get this spear on the altar posthaste!" Marvin, weighed down by pockets of gold, calls lamely after Xim, "Wait, what?" He looks ta the others, ...

Pockets bulging with pilfered gold, Marvin looks around at the others. So...how do we leave?

Xim pipes up, "I have to get this staff on the altar first, remember!"

Marvin, ever avaricious, reaches in to grab a handful of coin. "Dungeon tax", he beams.
