Re: Missile Fire Attacks and Damage
They should, being that of high agility you'd have better aim to hit those soft spots, but the rules say no.

Re: Death Rituals
From Spellburn podcast: Dead characters are taped to a column at the game store and left for all to peruse! Love it.

Death Rituals
I like the idea of having a specific ritual for character deaths. The rubber stamp is a good example, but it could be more elaborate. I like to cue some bagpipe music and ceremonially inserting the character sheet into the Valhalla file (to await the end of time). What do you do when a PC dies?

Level Equivalency?
I've been trying to match the published modules with the ability level of my PCs, and each module comes with a recommended number and level of characters. It's pretty clear that Judges consider 3 or 4 zero level characters equivalent to 1 first level, which is what makes a first level module playabl...

Re: Betrayal response
I would take a cue from Paranoia RPG, the game where the characters are supposed to betray each other. At the onset of the adventure each character receives special instructions and knows that all other players have opposing instructions. That way, they expect their peers to betray them and have a f...

Moon-Slaves of the Cannibal Kingdom
Excited to play this new adventure, but not really sure how the Moonhir works: At night the pedestal in the center serves as both a portal and a fountain? I can't picture it. Does standing on the platform activate the portal? If so, how do the players access the contents of the pool? There is descri...

Re: Making Traps Fun
Solution: Give clues so the trap is more like a puzzle. Thank you! Follow up: How do you use the Detect Trap skill of thieves? If the clues are there to indicate that something's up, is Detect Trap only used to confirm the suspicion? If there are enough clues, the party will already 'know' there is ...

Making Traps Fun
Maybe there's no answer to this question, but how can I make traps more fun for my players? They just feel like a 'gotcha' or a lame game of Simon Says, as in: "You die... because you forgot to say 'I search for traps'!" They are very anti-climactic compared to combat and never seem to adv...

Re: Damage and Death questions
My reading is that you may use Bleeding Out rules if you can access your fallen comrade immediately and Recovering The Body rules if you cannot, but you don't get both. If you're high level and you have a cleric standing right behind you, yeah, it's hard to die. But you lose -1 Stamina every time, s...

Re: maps and fog of war
I can't duplicate those awesome Doug Kovacs maps on graph paper, and the maps are usually the best part of any adventure, so where I can I photoshop the maps for the players' eyes. This is easy with some (Frozen In Time, Elzemon and the Blood-drinking Box) but no good for others (People of the Pit, ...

1. A round is 10 seconds.
2. Yes, but the weapon is considered untrained and attacks with 1d16 instead of 1d20.
3. Yes, let them spend Luck.
4. I tell them the DC so they can decide if it's worth it.

Which character does the monster attack?
How do you decide which character the monster attacks on its turn? It's been suggested in the forums that it's the character with the lowest Luck, but that is boring when over-applied: In each encounter the monster always attacks the same guy? It's possible to use miniatures to plot combat and have ...

Character Sheets for Magic Weapons
Since all magic weapons are unique in DCC, a character sheet could be employed. Mine looks like this: Name: Plus/Type: Intelligence: Alignment: Bane: Communication: Special Purpose: Special Powers: (Portrait) I think it should be distributed blank, and the player can fill in the details of the weapo...

Re: Luck question
Luck is the same as the other abilities in this regard: There are two ways to roll. The regular roll has a DC, and you gotta roll higher than that (with the possibility of a fumble or critical hit), but the other kind of roll, the low roll, doesn't seem to have a name. In this low roll, there's no D...

Re: using luck for impossible results
Other modifiers allow "impossible" scores, so why not Luck? I mean, if your weapon does 1d10 damage, your Strength modifier could allow you to cause more than 10 points damage. I would treat burned Luck points the same as any other modifier.

Re: Why the boost to D8 for the War Hammer
Because it's awesome? Now the warhammer is popular again. All the dwarves are throwing away their longswords, as they should, and even the Lawful clerics can do 1d8 damage now (considering that Chaotic clerics get all the bad-ass weaponry, the d8 warhammer balances it out a little).
