Re: Castle Whiterock Campaign writeup

In this update, the new rescue party is following the path of the party that's been captured by Benthoc on level four. Two of the captives were able to escape and will meet the new party soon. Banthum was disappointed. So much for the challenge of Castle Whiterock! So far he had found nothing worth...

Re: Castle Whiterock Campaign writeup

The campaign is still going on. I've stopped doing write ups, but hope to get back in the habit. Currently the original party was TPKed and are about the be sacrificed by Benthoc. A second "rescue" party is working their was down the levels and I'm going to have them show up just in time t...

Re: Just started Jack Vance's Dying Earth

I've always felt the two Cugel novels are the best in the Dying Earth series. They're all good, but I'd probably have a new reader go to Eyes of the Overworld before any of the other novels.

Re: Castle Whiterock Campaign writeup

Hooboy! Where to begin? We took a couple of sessions off for various real life reasons and had a short side quest to bring in a new player (a druid named Tempest). When we finally got back to Whiterock, the party was pleased to see the first level was still uninhabited and the second level now seeme...

Re: Castle Whiterock Campaign writeup

I'm going to skip over level one right now. It happened quite a while ago and maybe I can eventually go back and fill in the gaps. Most recently, the party has defeated almost the entire tribe of orcs on level two, including their leader Kaernga. The battle was epic! The four heroes (down to four no...

Re: Castle Whiterock Campaign writeup

It's time for a new group and a new run through Castle Whiterock. We're about 4-5 sessions in so far and I'm going to try to start writing up our exciting adventures here. The party is: Ashianna - A female elf. Ashi (for short) is an Oracle who lost her hearing at an early age. Ashianna is dedicated...

40+ views and no support? I guess no one is interested in updating Whiterock. That's a shame.

Castle Whiterock: Revised Edition

I'm well into my THIRD trip to Castle Whiterock as a DM. I ran it once in its native 3.5 and my players made it to Lv 10 before the campaign fell apart. My second trip through Whiterock was in Pathfinder and player drama ended that campaign before it really got started. My current Whiterock journey ...

Questions about Level 10 Maps

I'm a bit confused by the maps of level 10. Specifically map 3. In area 24, there's a set of stairs. Where do they go? How does one get from the bottom level into area 25? Is there a door missing? I don't see any way to get from the entrance in area 1 to the two upper levels. What am I missing here?...

Re: Castle Whiterock Campaign writeup

I'm actually starting Castle Whiterock next Sunday with a new group of mostly strangers. I have the first 7 levels all converted and ready to go. It's going to be exciting. Assuming I manage to keep up with the recaps, I'll post them here. I hope the first campaign run through CW makes this one even...

Re: Castle Whiterock Campaign writeup

I just wanted to drop a quick note after all these years. As you may have guessed, the campaign broke up when I stopped posting. Our gaming table Klooge.Werks pretty much just stopped working with all the updates to Java, and it wasn't being updated or supported. Rather than move everything I had al...

Re: Question on Map 31: Level 11, map 2

Never mind. Rereading it, it looks like that spur that I thought went off the map just ends there and it's a tunnel by the halfling cook who is trying to dig his way out of the Underdark with a butter knife. I don't want to know where he's putting the dirt and stone or how long he's been here.

Question on Map 31: Level 11, map 2

I have a map question on Level 11 Map 2. In between rooms 28C and 35B is a tunnel I don't see any reference to (and I could just be missing it). There is a branch of that tunnel that disappears off the map. Does that lead anywhere?

Thanks!

Re: Castle Whiterock Campaign writeup

I'm a few sessions behind, so I'm going to leap ahead a bit. When I last left off, the party had run into a pair of Salamanders guarding the stairs to level two. You can probably guess what happened next. Heading into the depths of level two, the party dealt with some mechanical traps, as well as a ...

Re: Castle Whiterock Campaign writeup

What a spectacular turn around from last session! When we last left the group, they were almost in full retreat. Kristle was dead, Caelifer was dying, Pun-Ra was surrounded by foes and at fewer than 10 hit points, and Taz was under the effects of a cursed Berserking sword, paralyzed, and in the form...

Re: Castle Whiterock Campaign writeup

Exciting times this week. After dispatching the few remaining crabmen they were battling, the party made it outside to camp for the night and recover, and the night passed without event. The next day, the group delved into the Volcano Caves once again. This time, they took the path to the South whic...

Re: Castle Whiterock Campaign writeup

This week the party continued into the volcano caves. Further down the hall, the air got more and more humid, mist hung heavy in the air, making it hard to see more than a few feet down the tunnel. More crabmen lurked in the hall, ready for the party's incursion. They attacked. http://blogs-images.f...

Re: Castle Whiterock Campaign writeup

Kristle the Ranger had a pretty good idea where they group had arrived from the lay of the land, types of plants and all the other stuff you learn in cub scouts. Plus the big volcano in the distance (Mount Rolnith) was a bit of a give away. Kristle figured the party was about 200 miles S/SE of Castl...

Re: Castle Whiterock Campaign writeup

After another trip back to Dawn-on-Stream, the party met with Soras. He told them his Fae spies had finally found the location of the Goblin gate, so it was time for a final assault on the invaders to drive them from the Far Garden once and for all. His plan was to send the party to within a few mil...

Re: Castle Whiterock Campaign writeup

Every week we begin things with Raise Deads from last week's adventure. This is no exception. The party tumbled out of the Glade of Farewell with three body bags in tow. Vanafae the Cleric/Bard, Caelifer the Monk, and Nix the Pixie all perished while returning the unicorn horns to their rightful pla...

Re: Castle Whiterock Campaign writeup

The party packed up and headed back to Dawn-on-Stream to try to have Pun-Ra raised from the dead, and to find help for Vanafae after his level drain. Along the way, they avoided an encounter with a pair of satyrs who were fighting over who was the better musician. Soras was able to help them with Ra...

Re: Castle Whiterock Campaign writeup

We ended last week with the party dealing with their grief at losing Kethren to the undead Unicorn. Pun-Ra was unable to restore the Werewolf to life, it requiring a full Ressurection spell to overcome the foul magics of the ghostly unicorn. Camp was set for the night and everyone awoke the next day...
