Re: dwarfy town
Fangthane, from Fighting Fantasy. Not especially well detailed, but here's a 'map' (from: http://www.fightingfantasy.org.uk/Booko ... INDEX.html)

Re: Five Years Later...
"Going back to the first edition AD&D books, Gary mentions that characters should only spend a few weeks out of the year actually questing." Of course, King Arthur Pendragon makes this a central feature of the game. But you don't need to be running a manor, or attending court, to make ...

Re: Funnel Adventure - Storming Frankenstein's Castle - idea
Oh, yes, traps aplenty. I just meant more fighty than Tower of the Stargazer (which I think is very good, and the closest thing that I can think of, at the moment), not more fighty than Keep on the Borderlands And maybe a little more B-movie in tone.

Funnel Adventure - Storming Frankenstein's Castle - ideas?
No, I haven't written it yet, but I will do if needs must. Given that there is no point producing inferior versions of the work of my betters, does anyone know of an Old School adventure that would be suitable as 'funnel' - in which the 0-level PCs are a lynch mob storming the castle of the mad scie...

Re: DCC World Tour... in Europe?
I guess that it is a World Tour in the same sense as the World Series

Re: Ability Checks
No, my style would just be to tell the group, in order to facilitate player choice/skill. But that is coming from classic D&D and the various OSR clones and similar. DCC RPG descent from a version of the game that is more skill-based complicates things, even if DCC RPG itself isn't skill-based. ...

Re: Ability Checks
These days, when running an Old School game, I try to give the players enough information to make an interesting decision. There's no player skill or choice involved into walking into a room, the description of which gave them nothing to go on, and having their PCs wiped out by a trap. As you say, I...

Re: The DCC RPG Economy. I think the prices are off.
The game is about adventuring first and foremost, so when it comes to economic matters, the question "does it work?" is more important than "does it make absolute perfect sense?" [...] Personally, I have to be conscious of "boogeyman" problems in games - i.e., things t...

Re: The DCC RPG Economy. I think the prices are off.
[snip] First off, I don't think that the economics should be that big a deal, because this isn't the focus of the game. If you want or need more verisimilitude I'd suggest importing the economic system from Adventurer Conqueror King, which isn't perfect, but puts a lot more thought into these issue...

Re: Introductions Thread - Join the Band!
Hi, I received my copy of DCC RPG earlier this week and, well, wow! I'm itching to play. I enjoy quite a lot of OSR-ish games, but DCC has the most distinctive atmosphere. I don't think that I've seen dangerous, chaotic magic done better - it was what the setting of WFRP1e promised us, but never del...
