Re: Law vrs Chaos
I have always preferred to keep it simple: Law are the "good guys" and Chaos are the "bad guys". Having said that, Law is not always pretty and Chaos is not always ugly. Public corporal punishment is the epitome of law, after all. Likewise, freedom fighters and rebels are the epi...

Re: Appendix N Adventures..anyone order them ?
Nice, are there still plans to do The Crumbling Tower, Danger in the Sulyndri Forest, The Revenge of Abudakar, Perplexing Disappearance in Brambury and the Old Isle setting? I've really enjoyed the modules so far and can't wait to see what's coming next.

Re: A DCC "modules in order" campaign
There's also Doom of the Savage Kings, a Lvl 1 adventure. Nice list... I've been really scratching my head on how they could link together though. They all seem to have really different opponents.

Re: weapons and damage
Honestly, I have never felt that different weapons damage is at all "realistic". Realistically, all weapons should do the same damage since all weapons are just as good at killing. I chopped wood all my childhood growing up in rural America and I can tell you that my Mora knife sitting nex...

New England DCC Campaign
Hear ye, hear ye! After a grueling year of graduate school, I am officially returning to the world of the living. Our New England group will be gathering again around the table this summer and we are looking for new recruits! Our bio: ~ Three friendly, easy-going and amenable guys looking to just ki...

Re: Expanded Equipment List?
I use Crawl #2, but I also use Grain into Gold for my overall economy. I checked out Grain into Gold, but I never really understood the supposed problems of medieval economies in fantasy settings. The reputed problems typically go: 1) If anyone can earn unimaginable wealth by dungeon-delving, why d...

Re: House Rules for Garweeze Wurld
Those are some good points. To be honest, I suppose I will change that rule so that referee could just say "dude has 3 hp left" (or "you can't knock him out yet!")—I wouldn't mind being explicit if the target is close to death (with the exception of those targets that cannot be s...

Re: More Adventures...? A query.
Extra adventures can never hurt, particularly if they are creative enough to inspire a whole campaign , but I kinda see what Colin is saying about adventure overload. What I am really looking forward to is the DCC Annual, so anything like that (extra options, alternate takes on things) would be inte...

House Rules for Garweeze Wurld
In an effort to map DCC RPG onto the Garweeze Wurld, I have been considering these house rules. What do you think? Threshold of Pain : When a combatant receives damage equal to half or more their remaining hit points, they must immediately take a Threshold of Pain (ToP) test. Take a Fortitude Save a...

Re: burning luck
When I run the Garweeze Wurld (of Knights of the Dinner Table and Hackmaster fame) with DCC, I am going to replace the Luck stat with Honor. This way, characters gain a few points whenever they do something that pleases ye gawds (like challenge a giant to an arm wrestling match) or lose a few points...

Re: Dave Arneson's Blackmoor Core Campaign Book
I found the JG First Fantasy Campaign to be a fairly random assortment of stuff. Some of it was for a tabletop wargame scenario, other parts detailed a difficult to manage dungeon or even some pedantic descriptions of what Giants would carry in their inventory. There are useful bits here and there, ...

Clerics and Deities in DCC
I often hear that clerics are the least exciting class to play in DCC. I suspect this largely has to do with how Gamemasters are running the players' deities. Of course, the cleric class potentially has a lot of fun game opportunities if the patron deity is very involved in the adventuring group (fo...

Re: The adventures seem cool, but how's the campaign?
I would just use common sense when targeting PC's (who is standing in the doorway? Who is fumbling with the trapped chest?). When there is no clear answer to who should get the short end of the stick, you can always demand for each player to roll 1d20 under their Luck score and the player who fails ...

I picked up Emerald Enchanter just walking into Hairy T's North on the right day. Dueling Grounds didn't carry DCC by default, but Wayne was happy to order People of the Pit and Starless Sea for me.

Re: Legends of Thumbnail Part II: My second DCC session
Hehe it is interesting to watch the players change over time (especially John's blood mage on the left of that picture). My character (Dirty Pete, third from right with the bottle) hasn't changed too much yet—he's still his dirty, thievin' self! Last session was really interesting for a number of re...

Re: Thieves'/Halflings Luck and (again!) Mighty Deeds of Arm
Because I will be going for a more "Knights of the Dinner Table" feel, I am swapping out Luck for Honour (a la HackMaster). Essentially the stat works identically, but there are constant and common opportunities to increase and decrease Honour. I.E. a monster humiliates a player, the PC lo...

The Jeweler Who Dealt in Stardust (Spoilers)
This morning, my wife was asking me about the small hoard of DCC books accumulating in various places around the house. When we met, I had been over RPG's for a couple years, and she only occasionally asked about my greatly diminished collection of "nerdy" boardgames and books which were t...
