Re: Can we have a sample of a "new" spell?
One thing I really liked about 3rd edition D&D was that high numbers were always better. Could we get that with these spells as well? In particular, I reference the mishaps where 1 is a minor physical appearance change but 8 is a greater corruption. People really "get it" when high is ...

Re: Zocchi DIce Poll
All of the Zocchi dice can be very easily substituted for by any gamer's "regular" dice, so I do not understand how this even qualifies as a point of contention. I have been using 2d10 in place of 1d100 for my entire gaming career. Any of these others substitutions requires a similarly neg...

Re: quick feedback
4.)we found the zocchi dice mechanics sort of annoying, as we constantly were having to use the computer to roll dice. on the board some people were saying that weapons rolls should use the funky dice, but for us that would make the game terribly cumbersome Check out this thread for methods using n...

Re: Playtest in Connecticut
One moment of note from the character generation process. When a player rolled for his pushcart's contents, he got 4) your dead. One player actually thought that it meant the character was killed, but I explained that it's more likely a Monty Python reference. Perhaps Putting (Bring out your dead!)...

Re: Updated Cleric Class
Respectfully, adjusting for alignment makes sense, but subdividing by class as well seems overly punitive. This system already gives warriors more advantages than other classes, they don't need any more help. If the system requires that there be more healing available than the "lay on hands&qu...

One would hope they would let you start running a month or two in advance to build up hype. Nothing like getting some people hooked on the game so they cannot wait for the books to get there.

Re: Class Conversions for DCC
I find it difficult to comment on the class when the actual meat & potatoes are missing. Even a few examples would help. I can note, however, that you get one discipline per level, and there are ten levels, but for any given alignment there appear to be only eight disciplines. I do not like the ...

Re: Homebrew Patron w/unique spells & taints
I have been working on a patron since this thread started (I also edited abk's patrons for spelling and consistency). I am too much of a perfectionist and thus can only work on it a little bit at a time. I have no idea how abk churned out three of these in a matter of days. This is what I have so fa...

Re: "Wizard's apprentice" and spells (Quick Question)
There was one player who had to drop out of the game early on because he couldn't accept the fact that he didn't know what his character can do. Or what his limits were. And no amount of "ask and I'll tell" would help. The issue there would likely be that he is supposedly making and playi...

Re: Game vs. Story
Trust is a big issue when it comes to DM fiat. When I ran our group's games, my players trusted me and so I was free to make changes on the fly to enhance the game (the party dealt enough damage to kill a black dragon twice over due to a few lucky rolls but I allowed it to stay alive to make the gro...

Re: Game vs. Story
There is a desire to have the experience be positive no matter what table you sit and and who runs the game. ... So, there becomes a movement to promote some consistency . This requires rulings on common issues. These rulings eventually become rules. The cycle repeats. The rules get big. Consistenc...

Re: "Limiting" Corruption
But for most spells I disagree, where corruption should come in to play is seeking "forbidden knowledge" or boosting or taking short cuts to power. Reading the General Principles of Wizard Spells and the Magic section of the beta, magic in and of itself would be forbidden knowledge and a ...

Re: The Spell-Crypts of Thurfang Bormaug
Conversational English language usage states that saying this or that usually implies a logical exclusive or where either this is true and that is false OR this is false and that is true. But this was explicitly a logic puzzle, so conventional mathematical logic should apply. If you ask a mathemati...

Subsequently, who cares if a thief can save up all of his luck and drop a "boss"? The DM and other players who were geared up for an epic battle and got a one-shot kill instead. And not a cool one-shot kill like rolling a 20 and then maxing out the Critical Hit table (through the heart!) ...

Re: Gamestation Dice came today and I am sad
If it was a blemish, it is no problem.
However, he said there is a raised bump that prevents the die from landing on 7 or 14. That is not the kind of blemish Lou mentions in his video (which is purely cosmetic).

Re: Just reading through the rules and I am loving the DCC R
For DCC, I'll say race-as-class is actually a bigger problem than it's worth. And it goes to those 0-level characters. What abilities does a 0-level character get from being an "Elven Forester" or a "Halfling Gypsy"? And how does it affect the funnel? See, I don't think that occ...

It's not "important" but more logical (the six tables vs. one table) than having a Dwarven Blacksmith with a 3 Strength and 17 Intelligence. How does he lift his hammer? (Or a Healer with a 5 Personality.) There are gamers who will have difficulty swallowing those inconsistencies. If he h...

Unless he's a power gamer who is attached to good stats, I can't see how any one character would have become so favorite so quickly. At least, not to the extreme that you seem to be telling us about. It's not like he played the character for a few weeks and then it died. We're talking about one ses...

Re: Muddled "Recovering the body" text
I think it would be a simple change to make the paragraph consistent. I think it would also make more sense to utilize "downed" as a descriptor to avoid "killed" or "dead" characters not being temporarily killed or not really dead ("I'm not dead yet!" "He...
