Re: Road Crew New York 2014: The Chaotic Overworld

A couple players couldn't make it tonight. I ended up with only 2 players and 4 characters for Tower Out of Time. I scaled it down... one spitter, 2 apes/leeches... no apemen in the flower room... easy to scale back and it worked perfectly! - The spitter paralyzed one pc and was dropped.. The cererb...

Re: Road Crew New York 2014: The Chaotic Overworld

I do have people of the pit.. I will mine it for material! Thanks! A couple of my players are moving away soon. I have concocted a scheme to "write them out" of the game. There is an NPC in town who is from 1986 New York City. I am thinking some of the PCs will somehow end up taking him ho...

Re: Road Crew New York 2014: The Chaotic Overworld

Our reavers completed their annihilation of the War Worms this evening. After slaughtering every maggot in the maggot pits, the adventurers mauled their way through the rest of the adventure. I felt like I should have spiced it up a bit more. At points the session turned into a bunch of back and for...

Re: Road Crew New York 2014: The Chaotic Overworld

We missed last week and got back to it tonight. We finished Black Pearl and got through most of Well of the Worm. - We left off in the final room. A wizard and the poor corrupted fighter, Citon, Were in water holding the black pearl with 25 snakes. The wizard climbed up the dragon statue, out of the...

Re: Road Crew New York 2014: The Chaotic Overworld

I ended up running Tower of the Black Pearl last night. The group is totally into it. I was worried that the adventure would be too short to fill a 3 hour session but we actually didn't finish. - The cleric is lawful, and had to lay on hands on a pair of lawful PCs who had almost died in the previou...

Re: What DCC Needs Is.....

That is so epic. I think I might try to stick it in a dungeon or something... is the mouth a portal? A wizard inside a magic sphere, too... awesome. Maybe once my group throws me a curveball, I'll cook up a mini-adventure to deal with whatever they've done and i'll include this somehow.

Re: Road Crew New York 2014: The Chaotic Overworld

We played through Frozen in Time tonight. We are on quite a roll! The group continues to really enjoy the game. I hid the adventure in a folder so I would not spoil the premise. It was very effective. The module is written in a way that the players slowly realize that they are, in fact, dealing with...

Re: Road Crew New York 2014: The Chaotic Overworld

Just got home. We finished The One Who Watches From Below. This was a really special night in the campaign. I felt the group come together and gel. The best way to describe it is that the players are united in their enthusiasm for the game. We had added a player's 13-year-old sister a week or two ba...

Re: Road Crew New York 2014: The Chaotic Overworld

Thanks for your help! I will see what the player thinks. I am guessing the problem will be.. if he cuts his eyes out, hes a blind wizard! Although he has a familiar, maybe we could say he sees through its' eyes. I guess he'd need to do like you said, graft the eyes of some poor sap to the wizard's b...

Re: Road Crew New York 2014: The Chaotic Overworld

We had a week break, but got back to the DCC RPG campaign on Monday. We are rocketing toward level 2. I think most of the party will level next week, and then I can start running the two World Tour adventures - Glipkerio's Gambit and Tower out of Time. One of the players brought their 13 year old si...

Re: Road Crew New York 2014: The Chaotic Overworld

OK another awesome one! Summary is here . Short Version: We finished The Old Gods. They cast Find Familiar. Then they got through most of Intrigue at the Court of Chaos, which is absolutely awesome. I was worried about the ice demon in 3-1. But, to my delight, the warrior rolled a critical and kille...

Re: Road Crew New York 2014: The Chaotic Overworld

I had an npc (Dorota of Charms, elf of Gnatdamp) tell the heroes that they needed to search everything, and they actually heeded the advice. This group was listening very intently, always looking for clues or tricks. It was pretty refreshing. Good to know about the 0-level adventures! I just prepare...

Road Crew New York 2014: The Chaotic Overworld

This thread will chronicle what will be a DCC campaign held in a game store in upstate New York which I hope to run at least for a few months. I just started running the D&D Encounters stuff on Wednesdays after taking a year or two off, and I poached a few players to play DCC RPG on Mondays. Rig...

Re: Free RPG Day: The Imperishable Sorceress (spoilers)

Last friday, our heroes made their bodies. "Copies" of humanoids they put in a vat: - 12 year old fat kid (copy of the party wizard) - female halfling - A goblin The party wizard is now an imperishable female halfling. His real body died after three days. They are keeping it in a vat, pres...

Re: Free RPG Day: The Imperishable Sorceress (spoilers)

Is this free level 1 adventure available as a download? I don't have a participating store near me but I'd still like to be able to conduct the imperishable sorceress for my group. Thanks It's just a couple bucks and there is a ton of cool stuff in it! My group took longer than I thought to finish ...

Re: Free RPG Day: The Imperishable Sorceress (spoilers)

Our heroes should get to "try on" their bodies tonight. I put the star stones in the new Lamentations of the Flame Princess Adventure ("F*** for Satan") and it's been quite an awesome challenge. Tonight they'll finish that up, mess around with the bodies, and then hopefully start...

Re: Tales from the Road: My Road Crew experience thus far

I had my first "less than 100% positive" event. The problem surfaced a couple days later when I received an email from the Halfling player; he said that though I might not have been aware (I wasn't), he was "livid" when I killed his character. He said he had 50+ hours invested t...

Re: Free RPG Day: The Imperishable Sorceress

Cool, thank you for responding! I am OK with a party of Imperishables because of the nature of my campaign: We just finished a D&D Next conversion of the pathfinder path Skull & Shackles. It was awesome. This new campaign is on another world in my setting, a world which is covered in clouds....

Free RPG Day: The Imperishable Sorceress (spoilers)

This thread contains spoilers for the Imperishable Sorceress.... I am about to run my group through this, and I am considering the possibility of my group making their own Imperishable bodies. I am probably throwing out the idea about the blooded PC, and allowing any hero to enter an Imperishable bo...

Shadow of the Dragon

This is an actual play report of what will probably be a summer-long campaign of Dungeon Crawl Classics in New York. Bought Sunken City, printed it, read it... it is really good. I'll probably run it in the next few weeks. The setting is very cool, I will be very interested to see how my group takes to it. And can't wait for them to explore the arena!

Re: CRAWL! fanzine

I got mine two days ago. It is very good, I plan on working the patron in. I will probably have an 'alternate universe' young version of the wizard running around to meet the party. Very much looking forward to watching this publication grow! It is a great deal at $3.50.
