Re: Monster Conversion?
I decided to do some comparisons between the DCC monsters in the beta and existing monsters. I used LL/Basic for comparison since that's what I had on hand, although if the designers had a specific starting point for monster stats that was different that would obviously change things. 19-LL AC seems...

Secret Doors
The only reference to secret doors right now is that elves get a +4 bonus. I hadn't noticed this earlier, and had just been using a D6 roll. I'm assuming that's a reference to a skill check? If so, what would the standard DC be? 15 seems about right, and it seems like it could be either a luck or in...

Re: Playtest: Magic
I totally agree that corruption and invoke tables will be best if custom built. I could use a little more guidance, though. What kind of power levels make the most sense? What non-combat results fit different levels of success? Maybe seeing the King of Elfland table would be enough, though.

Playtest: Magic
I was able to run a second time with one of my players, who turned his level 0 jeweler into a cultist. He rolled up rope work, patron bond/invoke patron, spider climb, and ward portal. The mercurial magic was really fun: his rope work turned out to be a psychic focus, so he cast that before some of ...

Re: Monster Conversion?
Quick report: I ran some more B3 with one of the players yesterday, advancing one of his level 0s to a level one and bringing some hirelings. This led me to convert the young and adult cave bears from that module on the fly. I think that the +1 dmg per hd felt like too much, at least for me. I did i...

Re: Percentage Thief Skills
FWIW I've always liked the % thief skills. Couldn't say why though, so perhaps that's not too helpful.

Re: Weapon Training (Page 16)
Not having penalties at 0 was really fun for us last night, and I love getting to say "You are equally incompetent with all weapons." In the context of the level 0 pitchforks and torches it feels right.

Skeleton chart = win
Just a quick note to say that I had a random skeleton encounter last night, and the chart that goes with that monster entry made it really fun. I had a couple with special touches, although that didn't play out since they killed the level 0s they hit immediately. I did have two of the +1hd, +3 atk, ...

Re: Healing Critical Hits
My read on that was that you heal the crit effect next time you are at full HP.

Monster Conversion?
Just ran the beta rules last night in B3, and we had a blast even without getting to try out the level 1 rules. The players really sunk their teeth into the level 0 occupations. Most of the monsters they came across are already in the beta rules, but a few weren't and I just ran them as written in B...
