Don't forget to check the bodies for treasure.

I wonder how much XP is a Russian SPAM thread worth?

Re: changing the tone of DCC?

Disagree. Keep the sections highlighting where DCC's "throw-back" style is different from the way RPG's have evolved up to today. It is one of the better selling points of the game and, if I read things right around here, the very reason for the games existence. Let us all stand tall and t...

Re: the Artwork - keep it Black, White and BOLD!

There was a moment, a scant moment, when I first opened the PDF and saw the B&W art, that I felt like I was 16yr old DM again.

I second the Jim Holloway statement.

And, I've said this before, the art on the adventure covers rock! Maybe I like more color.

Re: Upcoming playtests of DCC RPG

Well, I don't know about any of you, but my beta playtest input will consist mainly of arguing that DCC should be re-imagined as a sci-fi game.

With dinosaurs. Big, smelly dinosaurs.

And cars with guns on them.

Yup.

Re: Free RPG Day

Very excited about this. Very. Once we get some of this in our hands, if anyone wants to bash the rules around a bit at Games Plus in Mt Prospect, Il., I would be interested in attending. Was going to have back surgery, but it has been postponed for a bit, so I am now officially on pain killers and ...

Re: Upcoming playtests of DCC RPG

Probably can't do much until the beta version of the game is released to everyone this summer (unless someone from GG wants to come back and run another play-test there but I suspect they are going to be busy). However, when we all do get our greedy little hands on the beta version I would be happy ...

Re: Upcoming playtests of DCC RPG

Just got back from the Games Plus play-test in Mt. Prospect. I don't recall having as much fun or laughing as much during an RPG game, in the last several years, as we did tonight. It really did bring me back to the way things were in the 70' and 80's during my gaming heyday. It also served to remin...

Re: Blackdirge’s Dungeon Denizens as Monster Manual for DCC

If generating monsters is as easy as described, then we probably don't need a "manual". I used to always cherry-pick bits and pieces of different monsters, toss them well with a splash of balsamic vinegar and heave them at my players 'cuz after 14 years they'd seen everything I had. Sounds...

Re: Challenging the stereotype

maybe it would be clearer to say that it's based on d20 btw there are indeed a few things of 3ed that should be kept out of the DCC 1) iterative attacks 2) dual*multi-classing like there is no tomorrow 3) only 3 saving throws (this sound deeply wrong on so many levels....) 4) feats 5) skill points ...

Re: Power scale of DCC

Its not like you're on hand to teach people how to play. Excellent point. So, why don't we? Tossing out a few ideas. I've been playing these kind of games since 1976, so I've read a lot of rulebooks in my time. Every time I had a new player to be introduced into one of my D&D games, I would han...

Re: Power scale of DCC

DCC spellcasters can be incredibly powerful, pulling off miracles, but it can come at a terrible cost. There is only so long that mortals can dabble in the dark arts without being changed. Stare into the abyss and the abyss will look back. //H THIS is what magic should be! Am really looking forward...
