Re: Dungeoneer RPG card face

Thomas, That card format looks nice. What are the white circles on the edge of the stat icons? Also, what does the fleur-de-lis denote? Here's hoping that you made a New Year's resolution to have the game released in time for GenCon '09. the little white circles are actually little starburst...

Dungeoneer RPG card face

It seems I am always apologizing for the lack of news and updates on the development of the Dungeoneer RPG. I'm sure Joseph has long since been wondering if it will ever be done. Well, nobody wants this project finished more than I do. It has been challenging, but it looks like it will be the most r...

Re: Dungeoneer still alive?

Dungeoneer RPG is still alive, and I've been working hard on it! It has 220 cards, and that is A LOT of illustrations for me to do!!! In addition to the 3 books it contains, with layout and interior art, the gorgeous full color map, and the 4 different fully illustrated, full color character sheets....

Hello, let me see if I can help. must Players fulfill Quest A before they continue with Quest B. Do they have to fulfill them alone, like the card game or it is it a group work? The Quest tree allows branches to become available as lower level Quests are completed. The player's act together just as ...

Another general question: Since the PC templates/abilities are based on cards, AND there are a limited amount of cards availible, does that mean: - We have 6 players who all want to be "fighters", and there are only 4 "fighter" cards in the deck, then 2 players are out of luck? ...

Re: Dungeoneer Adventures: Questions & Answers

Are there any combinations that would be incompatable? I'm curious if it would be feasable to randomly create characters by dealing out these cards to each player. I'm sure this could result in some interesting combinations. Also, how is character death handled in game? For example, if a character ...

Without some specialized software, or some clever solution I don't know how well play-by-post would work.

There is a way to track cards without actually using cards, it was an original design we had back before we knew we would be able to publish it in a boxed set with cards.

warpweaver could probably explain this better than me, but I'll give it a try. Player's create their characters through a simple system of 5 cards that are chosen, these determine race, template, culture, calling, and aptitude. To roughly put these in "D&D" terms they are analogous to ...

Indeed, complexity through simplicity - the holy grail of RPG design! I can't promise a character creation system as "in depth" as D&D 3.5 or Pendragon or GURPS, Dungeoneer character generation is quite simple in order to jump into the action as quickly as possible. I do believe Richar...

Re: So what's gamemastering gonna be like?

So whats the game mastering end of this game gonna be like? Is it going to be one of those games where the GM has sit back and " story tell" and protect the heros like sheep for the sake ot his precious campaign? Or can he get competitive and try to nail their miserable hides to the wall?...

Re: General questions about the game

Yes, boxed set. Requires 6-sided dice. 1 or 2 per player is ideal. One long weekend of gaming should get you to the highest (10th) level. No expansions required. The set should be complete - though expansions are planned! Yes, you can use existing Dungeoneer cards. Some cards may require modificatio...

Re: Dungeoneer Adventures: Designer Diary #4: Beyond Chaotic

Finally, does Goodman Games have a (ballpark) release date for this game? My opinion on this is that it is more important for us to develop a high-quality product than to adhere to some forced deadline. At some point we will have a clear idea when the game can be brought to market and that informat...

I have a question about this game: Will we be getting a conversion set for C&C or D&D3? Why I ask this: I am in process of segueing into C&C from D&D3. One thing that helps is there are DCCs ready for me to play using C&C. I just got the Mysterious Tower for C&C! :D So now I...

That is exactly what comes to my mind. This "peril thing" left me cold. Maybe I have not understand it correctly (I am no native speaker), but nowadays it seems hard to find a new rpg that is not giving the players some control that traditionally only the game master had. Peril is not som...

What about a DCC for an evil party? Lay off the poor orcs, kobolds, and goblins...let the elves and dwarves catch some hell for a change. At first when I read this I thought you meant an adventure where an evil party was the villian instead of typical orcs, kobolds, and goblins. I thought that was ...

Dungeoneer Character Creation

So how come Goodman is doing the RPG, rather than Atlas (the publishers of the card game)? Atlas would be the obvious choice, also being a RPG publisher. Also, in my experience, players like spending hours on making their characters. For DMs it can get old, though. Atlas has their very successful l...
