Re: Dying Earth
does anyone have any views on the previous Dying Earth Roleplaying game from Robin D Laws and Pelgrane Press? I owned a copy of the core rulebook and some supplements years ago when it first came out. Never played the thing. In retrospect I think it might have been a good game, but it was perhaps &...

Dying Earth D&D
On the twitch tonight, solomanii mentioned that he has run a Dying Earth campaign for years using D&D rules. I don't want something that would make the DCC Dying Earth obsolete or unneeded, but I'd love to see if anyone has done anything like this. I know that some of the characters got AD&D...

Re: Dying Earth
Watching the Twitch about the stretch goals. It was suggested by Maceo13 that "stretch goals" was sort of boring and a better name should be made.
My suggestion was "Goodman's Glorious Gainfulment."

I guess the kickstart hit its goal in 10 minutes. That's pretty cool! Wish I had realized there was an early-backer deal (same thing at a cheaper price). Oh, well. It's only money.

May be my browser, but all I see is a generic "image" icon instead of an actual picture. Any chance you can put up a link or something?

Re: Default DCC setting?
It's not Aereth, but the best DCC setting that I've seen so far has to be Lankhmar. During the original playtests I used some old AD&D Lankhmar products because I felt like DCC had the same vibe as the old Leiber stories, and now that DCC Lankhmar is a thing it's easy to use that directly with n...

Re: How long for an order to ship from the store?
I have a similar issue. I ordered 3 Lankhmar modules and another non-Lankhmar one. The one module came in around 3-4 days but the Lankhmar stuff is "processing." (I got the links for the PDFs right away, just not the printed modules.) My assumption is that the stuff shipped from different ...

Re: That dice chain
I like the dice chain and bought a set of the "weird" dice. However, I have trouble telling some of the dice apart quickly. Any tips? If I'm using a set of all the same color, I still sometimes mix up the d14 and d16 -- so I just sort those out ahead of time, set them on their top numbers...

You are welcome. I hadn't either, until I bought the original book. Those intros don't seem to have been included anywhere else.

Re: What other Appendix N inspired settings would you like to see?
I would like to see Stormbringer/Elric/Hawkmoon (in other words the world of Michael Moorcock). Barsoom would be cool but I'm pretty sure Modiphius Entertainement has the rights. Both solid choices, but I suspect that the DCC Purple Planet would be too close to Barsoom for Goodman to bother to supp...

Re: Reader's guide to Lankhmar fiction
I will confess that I haven't read the Bailey book, but it's been sitting on my shelf for years. It's supposed to be based on a story outline written by Leiber, but I know nothing of Bailey's writing style or prowess. Sad to hear that it doesn't measure up.

Re: Saving Throws - Goodman Games response?
Nice! Stories like that become legend at my table. They shouldn't ever happen, yet they do! Players never remember the time they killed such-and-such monster, but multiple crits or fumbles are remembered forever.

Re: Saving Throws - Goodman Games response?
"Never tell me the odds." (Han Solo) Yeah, it just seems to me like there ought to be a chance of success or failure no matter what the situation, as long as it's clearly not impossible. I have a lot of games where I might make a comment like, "roll a d20 to climb the rope; just don't...

Re: Saving Throws - Goodman Games response?
Yeah, I feel like the "20=success 1=fail" rule should apply to saving throws just as they might apply to pretty much any other roll. You might have to be a little creative in the interpretation of the result, however. GM: You fall into a pit of lava. Roll a saving throw, but you're likely ...

Re: Help Blending B/X into DCC
Some nice ideas here. My experience has been that 2 levels of B/X (or AD&D or most other OSR products) equates roughly to 1 level of DCC RPG, so that might help guide you a little in estimating your conversions. Overall I like what I see, however.

Two Sought Adventure
For anyone wanting to pursue the earliest (and best, in my opinion) stories in the series, I own a copy of the 1957 book "Two Sought Adventure", which is a compilation of the early Fafhrd and Gray Mouser stories. I've owned several editions of the paperbacks (and the SciFi Book Club editio...

Re: No original modules
I wonder if Goodman Games might eventually publish a PDF version of just the 5E content. That would remove the "duplication of older stuff" issue. (I own both the originals and reincarnated hardbacks. I like both.)

Re: Reincarnated Ideas!
Tomb of Horrors got a 5E reboot through Tales From the Yawning Portal so I suspect Goodman Games wouldn't bother, as this would essentially contain nothing new that TSR/WotC hasn't already published, but it would be interesting to see the various incarnations of the adventure. Silver Princess is an ...

Re: More guidance for prices?
Thanks. I felt that discussing the philosophy of the genre was a lot better than me trying to find ways to scam the characters out of their loot. If I steal from them they seem to resent it, but if I explain that they have blown their cash on "wine, women and song" (or whatever) they seem ...

I was part of that Greatest Thieves KS. Not much news recently on that front.
As far as "new stuff" goes, the original DCC Lankhmar KS had adventures 1-8 and I think 9-11 are out. That's sort of new.
