Thanks for the info. My plan is to continue to encourage him to write lots of stuff, and I'll keep an eye out to see if open submissions become a thing at some point. 8)

I agree. Blackmoor seems to be a non-product at this time and maybe Goodman Games could try to get the rights to the setting.

Re: Economics and keeping the PC's poor.

One thing that I've noticed about many of the "Appendix N" short story collections (Conan, Fafhrd & Mouser, Elric, Delvish, and so on) is that there is a common theme that adventurers gain absurd amounts of wealth by the end of one story yet are totally penniless by the start of the ne...

First I've heard of this as well, but I'm going to have to check out the KS.

The problem is that 100 isn't quite as special a number when you start counting at 66.5

Good point, but one cannot spew propaganda in all posts or one will be labelled as a SPAM guy and be ignored. Important to sneak a few BUY DCC RPG little things into a post that might not be noticed, yet will encourage folks to BUY DCC RPG do what you want. Right?

Boxed set arrived today!

I think I'm the first to report here that my kickstart boxed set of DCC Lankhmar arrived. (Actually, it came in yesterday. I've been waiting for this thing for some time and it's finally here. Fantastic product so far. Great map, nice layout in the booklets, great artwork … kudos to Michael Curtis f...

"Tales from the Magician's Skull" -- taking submissions?

I wasn't sure where to put this, but I'm curious as to whether Tales from the Magician's Skull is taking story submissions? If so, anyone know the process? I ask because my son is trying to start a career as an author. He wants to start with a novel, but I think that short stories are the best way t...

Re: Weird dice.

I don't have any 3d printer options for you, but it's easy to play DCC RPG without the weird dice. d3 = roll d6, divide by 2 (1-2 is a one, 3-4 is a two, etc.) d4 = standard d5 = roll d10, divide by 2 d6 = standard d7 = roll d8, re-roll 8's d8 = standard d10 = standard d12 = standard d14 = start wit...

Re: I made a Goodman Games Grab-Box Unboxing Video

A fun little video. I wish I had been in the room with you, because I could have explained about half of the product booklets in the grab-box. Citadel of Fire, Thieves of Fortress Badabaskor, and the Book of Treasure Maps are all Judges Guild Reprints. XCrrawl is a RPG setting sort of like DCC meets...

Re: Free RPG game day 2018

Yes, it's still a thing. I think that some game stores participate and others don't, so depending upon the stance of your local store you might or might not get much exposure to it. I know that my closest store hasn't done it for years, but another one an hour from my house does. This means at least...

Re: Abolish the Thief Class

It's an interesting thought, as OD&D (the original RPG) only had fighting man, cleric, and magic-user as its base three classes. The thief was added in months later in Supplement I Greyhawk. There are many old-time players who advocate that all classes should be able to do thief-stuff and that m...

I have found that folks just LOVE the 0-level funnel and I always start my intro games there. If I know that I have an experienced crowd I might go for higher levels, but otherwise I default to the zeroes. 8)

Re: Is there a DCC Spellbook?

Some of us have been hoping for such a product for a very long time, dating back to the origin of the DCC RPG. The response we get from most posters is something along the lines of "just take the PDF and copy-paste into Word" but to me that's a lot of formatting. I'd love to see a spellboo...

Re: New player - what happened pre-66.5?

Goodman Games has been producing modules for a long time. Most trace back to the days of 3E/d20 Dungeons & Dragons, a few were written for 4E. These modules can be converted, but they were never intended to be used for the DCC RPG game rules. Starting with 66.5 the modules were written with a di...

Some sadness...

Some sadness as GenCon is underway, and I'm unable to attend again. What is really eating at me currently is the release of some old modules with "retro" covers, because this appears to be a "GenCon only" promotion. http://goodman-games.com/blog/2018/07/26/gen-con-2018-new-releas...

Re: New to DCC. Question about core book.

There were probably some typo fixes, but overall I think that the rules are pretty much the same from one printing to the next. I bought the first few cover options because I liked the covers, but when I play it's pretty much always using one of my first printing copies because I happen to like it t...

Re: Into the Borderlands

I have to say that you have hit upon one of the "improvements" that I wish Goodman Games would pursue a little more. I get the super-deluxe collector's editions, but would like to see similar material in a cheaper, easier-to-use-at-the-table format. For example, the Judges Guild Journals r...
