you could set the campaign before the books; there's the confllict between the red hearders and the grass giants that could involve the PCs, and the vampires could easily be a recurring encounter type also, there are a number of off-world species available in the great ocean(s) on the planetary maps...

well, i like to figure it like this: a hit from a siege weapon on a high level character does less damage(as a percent of max) in part because they are tougher, but mainly because they are both better trained, and luckier; when a level 1 character gets hit with a catapult rock, it hits squarly and t...

reflex save
5 + 1 + 3 = 9 (failed of a certain, the DC will probably be atleast 22)

Seeing as how the gunners stations are all occupied or inoperative, Namfoodle takes a moment to act in an utterly pathetic manner in response to the pain of his suddenly aquired wounds.

consider it a price to pay for wielding larger weapons and gaining up to 20 points of DR notice, also, that the emcha rmor is only utilized by two factions: the primitive orcs the honor-bound iron-tooth clans both of these are soscieties that put an emphasis on personal prowes in combat, and mech ar...

hmm... that reminds me of the D&D 2.0 Gorgon's description; uses stone to flesh to make food for itself when there aren't any adventurer's around to kill so, assumably, the meat is edible, if dead i would rule that different types of stone make for different types of meat (say, likestone or chal...

Namfoodle surveys the mess (or, what he can see of it) that's been made of his station. "Oh... Clinkers!" Namfoodle disregaurds Hammer's suggestion; it's not like he'd make much, if any, difference manning a steam gun, especially after his earlier display of martial ineptitude. He begins c...

In that case...

I still make an attack a round like I rolled for.

I should note, however, that under normal combat conditions I prefer to declare my actions on a round by round basis (and at my initiative count, though i'm amenable to declaring my actions at the start of each round).

([+2 BAB/2] +16 mech dex, +2 controls, +3 dex, -4 non proficiency = +18 )

24 (6+18)
33 (15+18)
25 (7+18)

Namfoodle whoops as he begins connecting with some solid blows... though he can't tell if he actually did any damage.

Seeing as how Namfoodle arrived at the party late, he is now sitting at whichever seat was unoccupied at the time, most probably the steam breather, but one of the huge steam cannons, if he's lucky. ([+2 BAB/2] -3 mech dex, +2 controls, +3 dex, -4 non proficiency = -1 ) 12 (13-1) 9 (10-1) 2 (3-1) 12...

Namfoodle sits up and thinks for a second... 200 gold? that's a few meals, sure enough Namfoodle jumps off the bunk, leaving his pack where it is, and heads for the lower levels, and the mec...

Coglayer's hall of ideas

just came up with a random idea, i was going to do something creative for the begining of this, but i chickened out... and, yes, i do realize that there are no mechs below large size Lunar engine costs 1500gp weight 500lb PU: 4 this odd looking engine occupies a 5 foot by 10 foot area and is 10 feet...

i wouldn't suggest the trick with the symbol; there's nothing limiting what it can effect when activated other than hitdice, so the only way to tune it to the party would be to get all of the party to have more than X HD

i would suggest you use the pilots and gunners of the mech to determine the CR, and count the mech cost when you use the NPC wealth guide and equip the NPC if they've got more mech than the wealth index would indicate, then bump the CR up a level or two (depending, of course, on the mech; if it's re...

out of curiosity, how do you mean 'beyond his level limit' do you mean stuff more powerful than he should have (but in line with wealth by level) or do you mean stuff that costs more than the wealth by level would indicate? though, technically speaking, there's nothing that says you can't have more ...

I'll bear that in mind. I should also, in that case, mention that the Spectral weapon spell I have is also a shadow sub-type illusion spell.
