The Top 10 DCC and MCC Third-Party Sellers Of 2022

Top DCC and MCC Third Party Publisher Products, 2022

This year, we’ve decided to combine our Third Party Best Seller lists into one including both Dungeon Crawl Classics and Mutant Crawl Classics compatible publications. The very popular ‘Zines category still remains its own thing — check back tomorrow to see which of your favorite ‘Zines made it into 2022’s Best Seller lists!

Whenever we look back on the past year, it’s always great to track the trends and see what’s popular in our online store. In looking specifically at our Third Party releases we can get a clear look at what DCC and MCC fans have been clamoring to get over the last year.

Our rankings are based on a combination of total unit sales, and dollar sales. All of our “big books,” like hardbacks, tend to score higher because they are at a higher price point. But when you just look at copies sold, you get a few different titles floating to the top. In fact, you can see the difference this makes when you check out our Honorable Mention below — based strictly on unit sales, it’s definitely Top Ten material!

So, without further ado, here are the top DCC and MCC Third Party bestsellers for the last year…

#1 Weird Frontiers RPG

This weird wild combination of shooting irons and shoggoths wasn’t just our number one top seller in the form of its Standard Edition (above), but the Weird Frontiers limited edition leatherette cover came in at number two! We’ve combined them into one spot at the top of the list — and not only did these sell extremely well, but the Weird Frontiers adventure Never Swallow the Worm landed in our top twenty.

In fact, Weird Frontiers — a massive hardback offering a complete system for running Weird West themed games — proved so popular both versions sold out! We expect a restock of the Standard version any day now — just as soon as our armored stagecoach makes its way to the warehouse through werewolf country!

#2 Umerican Survival Guide (Core Setting Guide)

A gonzo post-apocalyptic campaign setting and sourcebook based on the articles of Crawling Under a Broken Moon. It includes a wealth of information to bring this mutant-filled world to life.

The Umerican Survival Guide isn’t just popular, the whole setting is a hit. In fact, most of the Umerica supplements that bring this oddball vision of the apocalypse to life, including the Twisted Menagerie Manual, Umerica Unnatural, Maximum Mutagenesis, and the Umerica Road Atlas, are all in the top 20!

#3 Hubris: A World of Visceral Adventure

Another returning top ten seller, Mike Evan’s fully-hackable, DIY weird fantasy campaign setting of Hubris, full of crunchy tables and charts to generate interesting locations and encounters, new occupations, 4 new classes, 5 new playable races, 3 new spells, 4 new patrons, including 3 patrons spells for each, 11 new and terrible gods, 14 tables and charts for a GM to use to aid them in their game or create interesting/fun situations, two new adventures to kick off a campaign, and 51 new enemies (including enemies that are unique thanks to random generation). Each territory can be used as the GM wills!  Need a desert, swamp, or frozen tundra for your game?  Use what’s in Hubris!

#4 Sarcasm Series Dice – Poisoned Skulls

These dice might look poisonous — but they sell like candy! Coming in at our fourth spot on the year, Poisoned Skulls is a 14-piece RPG dice set cast in a bright marbleized green plastic with black numbering.

This set includes the following individual dice: d3 (Roman numerals), d4, d5, d6, d7, d8, d10, d%, d12, d14, d16, d20, d24, and d30. These dice are compatible with the Dungeon Crawl Classics family of games (DCCMCCXcrawl Classics, and more).

Poisoned Skulls are made by Impact! Miniatures for Monday Knight Adventures as part of the Sarcasm Series Dice line.

#5 DCC RPG Reference Booklet

Once again, the DCC RPG Reference Booklet has proven popular with the fans. Containing all the commonly-used charts from the DCC RPG, its a must have accessory to minimize that look-up time. Features new cover art by Doug Kovacs and interior illustrations by Stefan Poag.

#6 Tournament of Pigs Boxed Set Adventure

This boxed set adventure is full of player aids and extras! Tournament of Pigs is an adventure module boxed set that has players taking the role of commoners trapped in a medieval game show competition. The twelve events test luck and skill, but also creativity and improvisation. Do you think you can cook a cake good enough for the king? How good are you at wrestling greased piglets? Can you outrun an aberration while tied to another hapless contender?

The adventure introduces semi-competitive play as players not only attempt to survive but also uncover the secrets of each event and score valuable Silver Prizes. The tournament is bloody, but if a player’s character is killed; another event starts soon, and the player brings a new character into the competition.

#7 Angels, Daemons, and Beings in Between Vol. II: Elfland Edition

A perennial best seller, both volumes 1 & 2 of Angels, Daemons and Beings Between again occupied top spots in sales, but for simplicty sake we’ve combined them into one entry. Whether you are in need of some extra-planer weirdness from Volume One, or you seek to unleash the hidden patrons of Elfland from Volume Two, Angels, Daemons, and Beings Between has something for you. With accompanying spells, spellburn, patron taints and the rituals required to commune with these patrons.

#8 The Complete Gongfarmer Almanac 2020

No best seller list is complete without the Gongfarmer’s Almanac. As always, several of the Gongfarmer’s Almanacs of years’ past score high enough to hit our Top 10 Best Sellers List, but for simplicity sake we’re just listing the biggest seller of them all, 2020. These massive compilations of adventures, rules, and extras from the GFA community are a DCC player and Judge goldmine of third party material.

#9 Jungle Tomb of the Mummy Bride

Hate and horror gave it life… but nothing could bring it death! In the hell-pit of this centuries-old tomb the accursed Mummy Bride lies in wait, perverted by the wonders of black magic and cult sacrifice… to unleash a horror beyond imagination!

Do your players dare to penetrate the forsaken pyramid’s inner chambers and overcome its terrible guardians to come face-to-face with the Mummy Bride in the shattered vestiges of her ancient tomb? From Planet X Games.

#10 Star Crawl

Star Crawl has proven year after year to be a popular way to take the fun of DCC into space. This full-size perfect bound book is packed to the gills with useful rules and tools for sci-fi gaming in the DCC style!

This is the new, revised printing of Star Crawl, with an extra character class (the Space Cowboy), power weapons fumble table, extra art, and 98% fewer typos! All of the Star Crawl family of supplements sell very well, so we’ve combined them into one entry in our Top 10 List.

Honorable Mention! Zero Level Character Micro Sheets

If we measured our Top Ten list purely by unit sales, then these handy little mini-character sheets would definitely place among the top spots. Each pack contains 50 Zero Level Character Sheets – enough for two or more Funnel adventures! Concise tracking for all the short-lived peasants your players chew through! Each resealable packet holds 50 cards, so you can run multiple funnels and then conveniently store the unused cards for future mayhem.
