A brand-new Kickstarter from Goodman Games is now live! This time out, we are bringing you a collection that reprints and celebrates the work of Jennell Jaquays, specifically the work that she created during the early days of The Judges Guild.
We’re talking about The Judges Guild Deluxe Collector’s Edition Volume Two Kickstarter, which reprints The Caverns of Thracia, Dark Tower, rare Dungeoneer zines, and more from the golden age of role-playing.
More than just the work itself, there are also notes, photos, memorabilia, and more from the creation of these fantastic books. And like the first volume in this series, this book is presented at a massive size to allow for accurate reproduction of the original material.
The Judges Guild is the originator of what we think of as the adventure module, and this book reprints some of the best the company ever published. In fact, Dark Tower is the only non-TSR module that was listed in Dungeon Magazine’s selection of the top 30 modules of all time.
So what exactly will you find inside this book? Here’s a description straight from the Kickstarter:
This Kickstarter funds the scanning, digital restoration, and print publication of an oversized deluxe collector’s edition of classic Judges Guild RPG adventures and zines. This second volume in the series focuses on materials created, illustrated, and produced by Jennell Jaquays: the Dungeoneer zines; Dark Tower; The Caverns of Thracia; The Book of Treasure Maps; and more. Through this Kickstarter, this volume is offered at a price that is $25 lower than the general distribution price, with an option for an exclusive slipcase available only through this Kickstarter. In lieu of royalties, Judges Guild has agreed to donate a portion of proceeds from the Kickstarter to benefit two special charities, as outlined below.
In lieu of a royalty from the production of this volume of the Deluxe Collector’s Edition, Judges Guild has agreed to donate their royalty to philanthropic causes, and Goodman Games will match that donation. Therefore, a total of 20% of the proceeds from this Kickstarter will be donated to charity. 10% will go to the Anti-Defamation League and 10% to GLAAD.
This volume is even thicker than the first, clocking in at a massive 275-300 pages (depending on final layout). And with the oversized format, that makes for a hefty book indeed!
There are stretch goals that can add everything from a swen-in bookmark to color plates to gold-foil stamping on the cover, but that all depends on your support.
