For nearly two years now, Goodman Games has published Tales from the Magician’s Skull, supporting adventure fiction through not just our flagship RPG lines but through the publication of fiction directly. In collaboration with Tales From The Magician’s Skull editor Howard Andrew Jones, we are pleased to announce a fiction writing track at Bride of Cyclops Con! These panels will be broadcast on our Twitch channel over the weekend of October 16-18 as part of the overall Bride of Cyclops Con programming.
Each panel will include prominent voices in sword-and-sorcery writing and fiction. While the exact participants are still to be announced, we invite you to mark your calendar and let the anticipation begin!
The four panels are as follows:
The Best Sword & Sorcery Stories of the 20th Century
A discussion of the very best sword-and-sorcery stories of the last century. This isn’t just a name check of famous sword-and-sorcery authors, but recommendations as to what their best works are and why, including both well-known, lesser-known, and some forgotten “one-hit wonders.”
Finding the New Edge for Fiction Writers
A spirited panel discussing tips, techniques, and approaches to writing sword-and-sorcery in the modern era.
Getting Sword-and-Sorcery into your Role-Playing Game
Some writers-who-game and gamers-who-write from Goodman Games’ stalwart design pool discuss how to conjure the feel of the Skull’s favorite genre when you’re playing.
Behind the Scenes with Publishers of Sword-and-Sorcery Fiction
What are things like behind the scenes at a publishing house? Both writers and readers can ask their questions to publishers here: how much slush do you get, how much of the story do you read before you reject, how do you find your artists, how we can grow the audience for sword-and-sorcery, how can we reach more readers, what are current trends, and much more!
Look for exact times when our Twitch schedule for Bride of Cyclops Con is published later this month!
