We’re talking stretch goals! Two stretch goals have been hit for all backers, and there are still some that are waiting on the horizon. Let’s talk about what has been achieved:
Cubicles of the Magician’s Skull
Cubicles of the Magician’s Skull will compile all the Skull Scroll stories you’ve read on this Kickstarter’s updates. And probably a few more, because we just can’t stop ourselves. It will be exclusive to the Kickstarter, and not offered elsewhere. Everyone who backs at the subscriber level will receive this booklet for free, in either PDF or print format as appropriate to their pledge level. We anticipate it will ship with issue #4.
An unpublished story by James Enge
I’m sure many of you read issues #1 and #2 and enjoyed the Morlock stories by James Enge. Our editor, Howard Andrew Jones, utilized the Skull’s scrying magic to discover that James has a 7000-word Morlock story which has never before appeared as a standalone short story! Portions of it were adapted in a novel by Enge but the tale has never before been read as a short story…until now!
We’re going to expand Cubicles of the Magician’s Skull to also include this previously unpublished story. Everyone who subscribes will get it, in either PDF or print format according to their subscription format.
PLUS, Legion of the Skull backers will be receiving a booklet of essays on sword-and-sorcery literature! The essays from the current campaign will be collected into a booklet of essays compiled from those on this Kickstarter, similar to the booklet awarded to Legion members in our previous Kickstarter. And again, this goal is exclusive to members of the Legion of the Skull!
With only hours left, things will be changing rapidly. The ONLY way to keep up is to be following the updates as they are announced. And the best way to do that is to become a backer for Tales From The Magician’s Skull!
Tales From the Magician’s Skull is a printed fantasy magazine dedicated to presenting all-new sword-and-sorcery fiction by the finest modern crafters in the genre. And every issue contains a short appendix at the end of each issue with Dungeon Crawl Classics game statistics for the monsters, non-player characters, and magic items that appear in the stories. The inimitable Terry Olson provides the DCC RPG stats.
