Agreed. Slim / slender dwarves just don't seem right. I've always envisioned dwarves as stocky / barrelchested and ready to lay waste to some goblins.cthulhudarren wrote:Any look that is not SLIM. Some of the dwarves from the Hobbit movie do not look like dwarves. They should be stocky more than anything.

Right now I like Rak and Tuk from Galtar and the Golden Lance.
Finding pics is hard tho. Rak is in the intro @ 22 sec.

They're a father and son team, and just very greedy and underhanded. They'll do anything for gold.

Re: What'z your favorite Dwarf look?
At least someone agrees with me. They should be stocky. But this description is descended from Tolkien dwarves, yes? In fact, otherwise they are "dwarfs".Ancalagon wrote:What the hell is that? NOT dwarves.Zeiros wrote:

Re: What'z your favorite Dwarf look?
You guys, don't you get it? There's no male lead for the women to swoon over, so they had to make the dwarves skinny, hairless, and with abs...just like the Twilight "werewolves."
You can't put fat guys in a movie unless they fall down and are comic relief. The handful of dwarves that ARE stocky and chubby, will be the "funny" ones. Wait and see.

This was exactly what I was thinking when I saw the Hobbit movie dwarves for the first time!Dark Lord wrote:You guys, don't you get it? There's no male lead for the women to swoon over, so they had to make the dwarves skinny, hairless, and with abs...
you nailed it.
[drift] Has anyone actually seen the movie yet? is it good? Dwarf design aside? [/drift]
Re: What'z your favorite Dwarf look?
As much as I loved the LotR trilogy (with a few irritations), I'm not going to see The Hobbit. The dwarf designs killed it for me (what with Mssrs "We're Short Elves Really" Fili and Kili, Mr "I've-Got-An-Axe-In-Me-'ead!" Bifur, Mr "Check-My-Freaky-Hairdo!" Nori, Mr "I'm the BIG FAT Comedy Relief" Bombur, and Mr "Lookit-Mah-Funny-Hat!" Bofur), and the fact that they've stretched out a short tale over three freaking films means there'll be too much damn padding. Also, too much chance of lame lines being added ala "Give us the halfling, she-elf!" when things are spread that thin.
