Occupations you'd like to see
I miss the following occupations from the list:
Fisherman (knife, fishing net)
Militiaman (spear, flask of spirits)
Sailor (cutlass, rope)
Vagabond (staff, rations for five days)
Which occupation's would you add?

Re: Occupations you'd like to see
Lots of maritime occupations, or at least something saying
" Hunter ( or Fisherman if applicable)"
along the occupations we already have.
I don't know if this can help, but here you can find an occupation list I created for my homebrew game: http://www.mediafire.com/file/5l4osggwd ... rsonae.pdf
Anyway, what would be highly appreciate on my part is to get 6 separate tables, which are tied to the PC highest stat. So that you recreate something similar to racial stats (if for example dwarven profession are tied solely to STA and STR, or Halfling one are available only if your highest stat is AGI or LUCK), and you don't get odd PCs if you don't want to (a 3 INT apprentice wizard, or a 3 STR blacksmith..). If you want these odd PCs, you can just roll randomly to determine on which table to roll for profession.

A nice idea and one which would make a great magazine article if it doesn't make its way into the rulebook. Makes sense that folks with certain stats would gravitate to certain professions.abk108 wrote:what would be highly appreciate on my part is to get 6 separate tables, which are tied to the PC highest stat

It's actually easy once you figure out how to lasso the lead bee without getting the lariat caught in his wings. The rest of the herd follows the leader bee.JediOre wrote:I would not want to attempt to HERD bees!abk108 wrote:wouldn't that be simply a herder of bees?

Re: Occupations you'd like to see
My sister has just informed me that my argument is absurd and that you need to lasso the queen bee, not the "lead" bee. Just thought I'd pass this along.finarvyn wrote:It's actually easy once you figure out how to lasso the lead bee without getting the lariat caught in his wings. Your sister is right.
Unless you are a bee keeper, it is a rare thing to see anything but female bees. The queen bee is the key to transporting a bee colony.

The Warhammer Career compendium has a LOT of careers. A LOT!! Some excellent ideas there.

How about 'sister'? That way, your character will have all the answers...

Re: Occupations you'd like to see
Most of what I would suggest has already been posted, but I think if they leave the racial occupations on the chart, then:
Human Artisan, Human Forester, Human Miner would be nice...
I'd like to see:
Acolyte.......club......Holy Scrolls of the faith
Gladiator....short sword, or 20% chance pf spear... shield, or 20% chance of net; +1hp
Mason....hammer.....hand cart Roll 1d6 for contents (1. bricks: limestone, 2. bricks: marble, 3. bricks: granite, 4. bags of sand, 5. rubble, 6. nothing)
Teamster/ Drover... whip.....wagon and pony; (Roll 1d4: 1. as farmer, 2. as wainwright, 3. as mason for wagon, 4. nothing) for wagon contents

Re: Occupations you'd like to see
Stevedore, gandydancer, and roustabout have always been my favorites. Much better titles than anything you see in a modern company. Alas, most of them aren't medieval-appropriate.
I'd like some barbarian professions (barbarian, nomad, northman, savage) and some maritime professions (cabin boy, fisherman, pirate, sailor). However, professions are so easy to throw together that I imagine we will get a slew of 3rd-party profession tables.

Stylite. It has Vancian provenance afterall. Comes with rope and a bucket. Weapon: cat-o-nine-tails (d5 subdual). Knows about religion, balance, being bizarre, and the weather. Oh yes, intimately familiar with the weather.
