Voorak moves about 20' to the southwest (he thinks) between the two strange contraptions. Beyond, more flashing lights beckon from other bulky objects.
Unexpectedly, however, he comes to a 15' diameter circular pillar running from floor to ceiling. The pillar is constructed of the same bright white material that covers the chamber's walls and floor.
He'll have to get closer to examine it further.

You notice that on one side of the pillar is a narrow opening measuring about 6" wide and 7' tall. Darkness lies beyond the gap.
A small, shallow circular indentation is also present in the pillar's side a few feet away from the slim opening.

You notice that on one side of the pillar is a narrow opening measuring about 6" wide and 7' tall. Darkness lies beyond the gap.
A small, shallow circular indentation is also present in the pillar's side a few feet away from the slim opening.
And when you say 'cooler than room temperature', what is room temperature here? Icy cold? warmish?
