Cave of the Unknown in Into the Borderlands

Post by tachyon80 »

I got my copy of Into the Borderlands yesterday but I'm not seeing a newly created map for the Cave of the Unknown. Was this not created for Into the Borderlands?

Haven't picked up that book yet -- but "Cave of the Unknown" is a spot on the original map, but not one that was mapped out, being left for the DM at home to develop is they liked, unless I'm missing something.

Were there plans that the book would include the site mapped out?

The Cave of the Unknown is on the map in case you want to site In Search of the Unknown near the Keep. It says on page 275:

"The Cave of the Unknown's area is actually the long-lost Caverns of the Quasqueton (see chapter 6). Alternatively, the DM can use the Cave of the Unknown as the setting of a dungeon of their own design."

The Cave of the Unknown in the original was never detailed. It was intended to be used as a DM created dungeon, if desired, or to magically hidden and ignored if they ware not inclined to do so.

I hope this helps.
