Kylessa carves off a pound or so of clay, wrapping it in anything she can find on hand, and stuffs it into her pack for later use.
”Are we going out in the middle of this storm? Mara doesn't like to get wet...”

...also, I lost my best damaging spell, lol.

[You can always Spellburn a point to get access to another try at casting it, if it comes to that.]

Hodin is amenable. He nods his approval while cleaning clay off his sword, then scabbards it.

“You don’t look like either of you’re of a mood to wait, and I’ll not have you going after a magician without me! I’m in!”

The three strangers trudge off into the night, having gotten directions from Father Geralt. Through the icy rain and howling wind you make your way down the main road, struggle a bit to find the right turning off that road, and continue down what's barely a path through the woods.

After a few miles, a crash of lightning reveals you are near the sea. The land before you slopes downward and through the trees and brush you can see it is bisected my a mighty wall and surrounded by the sea, a little peninsula bashed by the storm. In the center of that wall is a gatehouse.

As you proceed, please describe your approach: straight at the gatehouse? aim for some other point along the wall? some other actions?

Kylessa looks to the wall:
“Mara says she can get me over the wall- if one of you has some rope maybe I can tie it to something so we can all get over and take him by surprise?”.

Obadiah eyes Kylessa suspiciously, unsure how she means to get over the wall, but uncoils his 50' rope and hands her one end.

Hodin will watch for threats while Obadiah and Kylessa use the rope.

Back to the wall, Kylessa takes the rope from Obadiah in one hand, clutching Mara in the other, She closes her eyes and begins to chant something under her breath...

Spider Climb spellcheck: 18+3=21 The caster gains the actual climbing ability of a spider, even when using gloves and shoes, and when carrying objects in his hands. He can hang upside down, climb completely vertical surfaces with no handholds, move across spider webs, and even scurry along upside down at obtuse angles. The caster moves at his normal speed, need never make Climb checks, and is immune to spider web spells

With a giggle she opens her eyes again (there are EIGHT OF THEM, six new smaller ones appearing along her cheeks and forehead), Her spine arches as if to do a back-bend and she scuttles up the wall like a spider, rope in hand.

Kylessa will search for something atop the wall or just on the other side to secure the rope. What does she see on the other side?

Easily reaching the top of the wall, Black Kylessa finds the narrowest of narrow walkways, set about 4 feet down from the top, on the inner side of the wall. Every so often along the run, there is a series of projections, obviously meant for archers to rest their arrows against, in a siege. It would be no trick to choose one of these that's less weathered than the others to anchor a rope to...

Kylessa, through the storm and dark of night can just make out one or perhaps two figures on the top of the gatehouse in the distance. They appear to be standing watch, positioned above the drawbridge.

She will do so (is there a roll? 17 on the die if so), then peaking over the wall to her companions make three gesture: wave them to come up, place a finger to her lips in a sign of silence, then pointing in the direction of the guards hold up two fingers.

No roll needed (thanks, tho).

Do the others move forward? Any particular actions along the way to the wall...?

Hodin cautiously moves forward and will attempt to climb the rope.

Should I roll something for that?

Without rushing, there's no need to roll. Despite the rain and wind, a Warrior with such strength to command need not fear a rope!

Obadiah looks the rope up and down, frowns, and sighs quietly, not really enjoying physical exertion. But he grabs hold and hauls himself up as well.

The Triad attains the top of the wall and moves cautiously toward the gatehouse.

The figures atop the roof do not stir as you draw nearer and nearer, until a flash of lightning illuminates them in the dark -- some sort of scarecrows or the like, they do not move as you approach and their clothing sways in the winds of the storm while they do not heed the rain in their faces in the slightest.

However, that lightning flash was accompanied by a shrill scream somewhere, out in the dark, out on the peninsula...

A trapdoor is set in the floor in the back corner of the roof, and along the back wall of the roof is a windlass apparatus.

@Gnomeby: So the peninsula is cut off by the wall and gatehouse- are there any buildings further out on the peninsula beyond the wall? Is it wooded as well?

Black Kylessa looks to the gatehouse, then out over the peninsula toward the sound of the scream, the six unnatural eyes still remaining from her casting wide with surprise. Whispering to the two men-at-arms, "Which way?"

Correct. Imagine a wall along the wrist of a mitten, and somewhere out toward the finger zone, you're faintly hearing a scream amid the thunder. The mitten itself is surrounded by the sea.

So far, you can't see anything in particular out further on the peninsula, because of the dark of night and the storm. It's rocky and uneven up where you are, but may continue to 'slope' downhill the further out you go, and so meet the sea.

I'll assume at least two or three of Kylessa's many eyes are now trained in that direction -- maybe the next lightning strike will reveal something...

Hodin inspects the windlass and finds a chain encircling it, and leading down into the interior of the gatehouse. The trap door is set nearby in the corner, with a large ring set near one edge of it. Lifting it slightly, you can see stairs leading down into the gatehouse...

[I won't assume you turn the windlass or test it in any way, so let me know if you do.]

Obadiah assumes the windlass probably operates the gates or something, and since everyone's up on the wall, not much use there. He supresses a chuckle when he sees the mannequins. Clearly the watchmen didn't want to stand around all night in the rain, and came up with the trick to fool their boss into thinking they were standing sentry. Probably downstairs playing cards or napping. Men after his own heart- work smarter, not harder, he always says.

His eyes light up when he sees the stairs because he was not relishing climbing a slippery rope again to get down the other side of the wall.

"Well? No use standing around out here gettin' wet. Stay behind me, girl, and I'll go pay a surprise visit to whoever's guardin' this gate..."

If nobody else has other plans, he'll (quietly as he can) head down the stairs.

Woohoo! the Call of Bueller spell did not go unheeded! I was beginning to worry!

Kylessa nods at Obadiah's suggestion, then moves cautiously to inspect the manikins, wary that they might spring to life at any moment.

She'll poke at them with a dagger, maybe tipping a hat back to get a better look at the face.
