Bailey drinks with with gusto. Shaun sighs.

Vashni's coppers sink and join the other coins at the bottom. Regretfully, his wish goes unanswered.

Skaath the Dwarf can't take it any longer. "It's like a bleedin' treasure soup!"

His hand darts into the water to grab a bright gem and bring it up to his eye for inspection....

Vijo watches Skaath and holds his breath. Chance squints at the mermaid statue, looking for any signs of movement...

Without getting his feet wet, Skaath can only reach the odd coin or two, especially with his shorter arms. It seems most of the treasure was tossed in, towards the center, rather than dropped at the fountain's edge.

Chance notes that the mermaid's arm that wields the trident has a vertical seam at the shoulder, suggesting it may be able to rotate forward (and down). There's a similar horizontal seam at its waist.

Do Vashni and Joe see the seams as well? If so, maybe we can bind the statue- I have rope but maybe chain would be better...

Also, If Rick and GnomeBoy don't mind, I'm down!

ProdigalWilliam- I think it'd be easier just to insert your own zeroes in; we've barely gotten started, really. Roll up 4 of 'em and we'll say they were hanging out towards the back. That way you can keep playing once Jon/GnomeBoy is back.

Chance visually inspects the gems in the water. Do any of them look "special" (i.e. glowing arkenstone, etc.) or are they just a bunch of plain jewels?

ProdigalWilliam- make sure your guys bring some rope. We need to lasso this mermaid.

The four demi-humans hanging out in the background start mumbling to each other in Elven. Their quiet movements and dark green cloaks seem to have helped them blend in until now.

Elrod asks, "Do we care if the dwarf gets stabbed by a fountain statue?
Celebron quickly responds, "Of course we do, Elrod!" More to herself at this point, "If we hadn't been joined to each other at so early an age, would we even be friends?"
Legolad is staring into Aerandir's eyes, "What do we care for gems and coins in an obvious trap? We're here to slay the Troll that has plagued our conclave."
The halfling speaks, "Even if you don't care about recovering the riches stolen from your kinsfolk, which you do, this dwarf and his human friends will help us with the troll if they are not fouling up fountains with their blood." She walks up to the dwarf and says in Common to everyone, "Please don't go into the fountain, my grandfather used to rig up devices like this. My guess is that there is a pressure plate somewhere under water. Whether it's set off when the chest is removed or if more weight is added, we'll have to find out."

The halfling looks for any large rocks or heavy objects outside of the fountain that can be tied to rope to throw into the fountain.

Malthus, in Elven: "I've no deep desire to see dwarven blood, but I'll not deny him his precious gold if he trade his blood for it. However, a wager on which human dies next?"

Unaware of the Judas in their midst, Vashni prods Dirty Joe for his rope and they gladly offer it to assist securing the statue. Vashni attempts to throw a loop in the middle of the robe around the weapon-arm of the mermaid and with Joe's help, twine the ends about the statue in an attempt to tangle it. Then they hold the remaining ends tightly. Roll?

Vashni: "Maybe if a few of us hold these ends someone can wade in and remove some of the loot...what do you think?"

Elrod smiles and says in Elven, "Whichever one gets into the water is my wager, I'll put ten copper on it."

Celebron is not amused, in fact, the plan to tie down the statue worries her, she says in Common, "We have no idea how powerful this mechanism is. Are we sure a few people can keep it from acting when the trap is sprung? If we're going forward with this, at least let's get some more rope and numbers involved." She makes Elrod take out his 50' of rope.

Elrod lassos his rope around the stone weapon and waits for at least a couple more people to hold onto his rope before letting someone jump into the fountain.

The halfling is slightly more optimistic about this setup, but adds in Common, "The two ropes should be at opposite ends of the room from each other and looped around the statue in opposite directions in case we can keep the statue from swiveling horizontally."

Aerandir (falcon) will help fly and drop the lasso loop ends up to the statue in case the throws aren't going well. (Judge's discretion of course on whether a falcon can be trained with that much proficiency.)

Chance leans over and whispers to Joe, "I think the elves are discussing which of us they're going to eat first."

Bob heeds Halfling(is that her name?)'s advice, and, from a cautious distance, chucks his 10lbs. stone into the center of the pool, hoping it's heavy enough to trigger any potential pressure plate.

Yep, "Halfling" when addressing her, "the Halfling" when talking about her. Per her backstory, her family and community were wiped out by famine, so she has no connection to her past, not even a name.

No glow-y arkenstones can be seen, but from your zero level perspective, they're riches beyond measure.

No rocks.

There is a (recently) dead body back on the elevator, however.

Robe = rope, yes?

And a d10 roll, please.

The statue appears to be metallic, not stone.

Let's see a d10 roll, Tex (Elf Sage) for that fancy lassoin'

And a luck check to see if the bird understands.
Bob heeds Halfling(is that her name?)'s advice, and, from a cautious distance, chucks his 10lbs. stone into the center of the pool, hoping it's heavy enough to trigger any potential pressure plate.
KER-SPLASH!

You scare the poop out of Kylie the goose. She launches out of the fountain and lands towards the chamber entrance, honking and waving her wings about.

The rock sinks amongst the loot, but no other reaction.

There does seem to be a pattern of seams on the bottom of the fountain. The whole thing is divided into 12 equal wedges, like a precision cut pizza.
