The moment the key is turned the platform hums to life and begins descending towards what appears to be certain doom below.

Malthus smirks a bit and gestures broadly to the two new paths. Vashni brings his torch and looks down the North hallway.- is anything visible?

The circle is the elevator. The natural chamber is roughly 60' wide at it's widest point, and the two apparent exits are approx. 120' apart.

A low, thick white mist blankets the entire area, rising up to your shins (or knees, depending on your lineage).

Freebo makes extensive use of this 10'-pole before we exit the pod.

I don't know if those two openings were N/S or E/W but let's say he starts prodding the ground in the North or East direction, whichever is right. He confirms a good radius of solid ground before proceeding, even keeping Shaun the Sheep behind him.

Bob follows Freebo with the rest. Chance stays a few lazy steps behind the group, holding his torch out like a shield, and occasionally throwing a wary glance behind him. Vijo walks beside Malthus, because elves got to stick together. Jan's body is waiting in the elevator.

Okay. Freebo is but a few steps north from where you started when the end of the pole "splashes" rather than continues to connect with solid rock. Withdrawing the end from under the mist reveals that the tip is being eaten away by (apparently) a powerful acid right before your eyes.

Using the pole confirms that there is a big-ass pool of acid that runs nearly the entire width of the room. There's a 1' ledge on either side that allows you to pass around it. You can do so without a roll, though it's tricky with Bailey. Good thing he (?) is well trained.

Once around the pool, the rest of this side of the chamber appears empty / uneventful.

Everybody gets 1XP.

So at this point, I take it we are 'beyond' this chamber and proceeding northward...

Freebo will continue with his now-9' pole tapping. Just in case there are any more tricks to this place... :wink:

Sounds like my other three are bringing up the rear, with livestock (sheep and goose).

Yeah.

Again, forgive the half-assedness of this, but you guys are at the top of the chamber (X). There's natural passageway leading N and arcing E. Just past the top of the arc, it branches off back N, or you can continue on arcing E and then S.

The mist recedes as you leave the acid pit chamber.

Going left / north leads into a smaller natural chamber, roughly 30 X 30, with no other apparent exits.

Centered in the chamber is a fancy fountain. It is circular and 15' in diameter. A tall pedestal stands at its center; water trickles from pipes set within it on all sides into the fountain below. The water is clear.

Atop the pedestal is a golden statue of a fierce yet beautiful mermaid, her eyes fixed on the water below. In her hand is a trident (also gold), poised to strike. The sharp prongs are approx 10' above the water level.

A medium sized chest, coins of various precious metals, and gems of many colors litter the bottom of the fountain.

Vashni and Dirty Joe move closer to the fountain, watching the statue. They flank the fountain, backs to opposite walls at maximum distance, Vashni tho the left and Joe to the right. Malthus looks on for now from the hallway, while Algorath's eyes bulge at the sight of those coins...

It floats about like you'd expect if you tossed it into a water fountain.

No movement other than the trickling water from the pedestal splashing into the fountain.

Kylie the goose honks suddenly struggles to be free, flapping her wings. It seems like she wants to get in the water. Bailey the pony and Shaun the sheep tug forward, too. They're thirsty.

But Freebo will block Shaun, at least until we see what happens to the goose...

With a few vigorous flaps of her wings, Kylie swoops onto the water's surface. She contentedly swims about, making happy goose noises. No other reaction / movement.
