Hector doesn't smell anything interesting. At the north end of the corridor, it turns west, and you see two doors on the north wall. Both appear to be slightly open, both have the same hand-panel as the other locked/lockable doors...

Cathbad stays near the middle, feeling very nervous.

Would the 10' pole reach one of the doors?
"We could nudge it further open, and see what happens..." Hector says, trying not to sound nervous.

The pole reaches the first door on the north wall (you're still standing here at the corner, I presume)... the door opens slightly wider, but nothing comes out. Yet.

Thorin smells for gold and jems while Fosco keeps an eye out behind the party.
Re: The Secret of Bone Hill - L1 DCC conversion Play By Post
Thorin doesn't smell any gold or gems. There's a damp, musty smell coming from the slightly open door on the eastern wall of the corridor, closer to where Thorin/Fosco are bringing up the rear.

As the party passes the eastern door Thorin kicks it inward revealing the room beyond. Fosco shines his torch inward for a better view. Both are aware of a possibility of danger from within and do not enter the room but are full alert so as to be not surprised.beermotor wrote:Thorin doesn't smell any gold or gems. Chuckle...
There's a rather large room on the other side, it appears to be mostly empty although there's a few bits of rotting furniture scattered around on the floor. You see a few skulls and bones, too. You'll have to move into the room to take a closer look.

"Guys wait up." Thorin says to the party. " We have a room here that needs looking into before going off ahead. I see some bones and furniture within."
Waiting for a response from the others they stand guard next to the room.

Bypeld will shift to the front. Tonunt has a torch in one hand and the pole under her other arm.
Bypeld whispers, "Yes, lets poke about in this room."

Cathbad says, "At the moment, I am the least valuable member of this group." Then she walks in to see what happens.
If nothing happens, she will take a quick look at the furniture, and wave the others in.

Hector glances over his shoulder and does a double-take when he sees that everyone has shifted to a (formerly) closed door well behind him, leaving him alone up at the corner. He quickly falls back to the group.

Re: The Secret of Bone Hill - L1 DCC conversion Play By Post
The room is large, about 40 by 50 feet, and there's another door on the western side of the north wall, slightly open like the one you came in through. Aside from a few skulls, random broken bones, and pieces of rotting furniture, there's nothing else in here. It smells damp and musty. A rat scurries squeaking out the north door when the party enters.
Re: The Secret of Bone Hill - L1 DCC conversion Play By Post
Tonunt begins giving the debris the old 'poke and prod', looking for still useful items.

Cathbad proceeds to the other door, looks through the crack. If there is nothing untoward, she opens it a bit farther and looks to see what is beyond. She is ready to close it quickly while doing so.

Re: The Secret of Bone Hill - L1 DCC conversion Play By Post
Cathbad sees, very dimly, some piled up wooden furniture that looks to be in better shape, some of which might even be salvageable (although lugging it out would be quite an undertaking). It looks like there's a larger room beyond, but she'll have to get a closer look to be sure.
Tonunt scares another rat and it goes scurrying away. Nothing in here seems useful or valuable. There's noticeable teeth marks on some of the bones.

Cathbad: "There's another room here."
Walks to other room, repeats the peeking and being ready to close the door, if there is a door. Otherwise simply peeks into the other room.

Re: The Secret of Bone Hill - L1 DCC conversion Play By Post
There's a lot of piled junk furniture in her, making it difficult to walk through and see around. But the room appears to be about sixty by thirty feet. On the western end of the north wall, there's a door going north. It is ever so slightly cracked open, darkness beyond. To you south, opposite that door, a hallway heads south.
Near to the north door, you see a small pile of skulls. They're neatly stacked, and have bits of scalp and hair still clinging to them...

Fosco and Thorin scan the room. Looking for tracks of monsters that might be hidden from view.

"Does anybody else find all these slightly ajar doors disturbing somehow?" says Hector, backing up Orastes as best he can.
Flavia is poking and prodding things mildly with her sword as she moves past it all.
Chendriss is noting the details of things, perhaps recognizing the era they come from...

There are a few cloths draped over some of the furniture, yes. You see a few rat tracks in the damp mud and dust on the floor. The air is colder here.

Fosco heads over the opened door; looks out of it listening and looking for any critters. Meanwhile Thorin will look at the furniture and remove some of the rags, using his ax, for anything unusual. Staying clear of the pile of skulls they both begin their searches.
As a side note both are aware that these monsters can and do climb walls/ceilings. So both are also looking at these structures as they go about their investigations.
