Chendriss investigates anything unexplored in the room where the man was.

Darrow can attempt to Lay on Hands on the man, unless another so enabled offers to do so. "We need some answers, and he has them."
The last part is critical. Portly Trim is expressing some reluctance. But Darrow is still pretty woozy. ... may have to burn some Luck... maybe Fosco would help? Hmm!

Once we sort out this, I can tell you how Chendris found ALL THE SEKRITS....

ooc...we were sent here to cleanse these ruins of all the nasties and that includes this evil wizard guy.

Thorin, standing next to the injured evil wizard can not stop but thinking about all the harm this man has caused others and will continue to do if allowed to heal. " By all my dwarven ancestors this foul beast must not live! His reign of evil ends here!"

Thorin smashes down with his pick ax and slams his shield into this evil incarnate.

Shield attack 2+1+13=16; damage 2+1+2=5

The man is very dead now, Thorin having taken upon himself to end the debate.

Technically, though, you were sent to investigate and stop the unrest here... It's not immediately clear whether that was caused by the now dead man, or the bear-bugs, or something else....

Portly Trim, as the man's life is ended, you hear a far off whispered sigh, loud in your ears, and feel a strange peace. Then the snake-bit hand throbs painfully.

"I can't say I'm sorry he's gone, but burning pieces of the jigsaw puzzle doesn't help us solve the puzzle. We're no closer to knowing what's happening here than we were before," says Darrow, weakly, sitting by the wall.

Meanwhile, Chendriss finds... [insert beermotor post of mind-bursting proportions here]

After finishing off the wizard Thorin looks around in the desk than points his noise up in the air and smells for gold and jems.

Fosco is smashing away, with the other party members, at those sickly eggs.

...mind-bursting, indeed, sir.

To the north, you see a room filled with shelves, and various objects, scrolls, books, papers, glassware, scales, and all sorts of furniture and stuff.
I may have missed some details elsewhere of the room where the man was, but it's hard to know what Chendriss is searching amongst, if anything. I'm picturing a furnished room, but maybe it is bare and the stonework is what have been repaired? Still, repairs could cover up hidden compartments and the like, so that's worth investigating.

But let's put that on hold for the sake of the room to the north with the 'various objects' -- Chendriss is inclined to think the man is an alchemist, like himself, hence the stains on his clothes perhaps. 'Glassware' and 'scales' (for weighing, not from dragons) also points in that general direction. Assuming this is correct, he asks that no one disturb anything in the room, since the clues to goings on may be numerous. He begins to inspect the room and it's contents without touching anything until he has a sense of what it all is and how it fits together. "My brother was also an alchemist. Was. ...He blew himself up by being 'disorganized' with his wares..."

Thank you.

But let's proceed with the northern, so-called 'various objects' room for Chendris.

And Hector idly peeks into the wardrobe in the 'man cave'...

Hector finds a tasteful selection of robes and cloaks, mostly plain, though one is quite fancy, embroidered with golden thread in strange sigils and glyphs, and of a fine blue silk. Most of the clothes seem quite large, for a tall human. But the man called Timor was of slightly below average height.

Chendris is pretty pleased with this find, indeed. There's enough things here for him to set up his own apothecary, if he wanted to. Getting all the stuff out of the ruins may be difficult, but probably well worth the effort. In addition to the glassware and weights and measures and whatnots, there's also shelves of books, ancient and musty, written in the common tongue, or something close to it. Quickly glancing through, they appear to be recipes for various potions, elixirs, cures, that sort of thing. And there's also shelves of jars, jugs, little boxes, and other containers of various bits of dried or powdered ingredients, some labeled, some not. It would take a long time to sort through all the stuff, though it is rather neatly arranged.

I think you mean the chest? There is no desk. Looking through the chest, he sees an assortment of underclothes mostly, socks and stuff, and a pair of worn leather shoes. Everything is folded neatly, although that may not be what you mean by "neat" ... :D

Cockroaches scurry as the painting is moved. Behind the painting Hector sees a crude hollowed out space, with a leather bag resting inside.

First, he smashes as many of the bugs as he can with his fist.

Then he retrieves the bag, despite Chendriss' warning. He gingerly works it open.

During this time that everyone is exploring Bypeld and Orastes will help destroy eggs if others are.

Tonunt begins walking around the immediate area and passes her eyes over the things in the man's room.

When Bypeld and Orastes finish up smashing they too look over the items in the man's room.

Bypeld in particular looks over the books in case there are a few he would like to take for keeps.

Hector rolls a 6, which mods to a 7. May he burn Luck to boost that?

Now lessee... Halflings get twice the boost from Luck, Dwarves get half the boost...

Yes, he may definitely burn Luck if he wants. Or if Fosco wants to help him, he can... just let me know.

Inside the bag is a small collection of rough, uncut gemstones.

"Is this what that smell was???" says Hector.

ooc -- I'll burn the Luck.

I think we've basically been on our feet for 24 hours... probably a good idea to get some rest somehow.

Darrow: "Fellows, shall we secure this upper floor, as a base camp of sorts, to sort through what we've gathered materially and in knowledge, and restore ourselves as best we can?"

Hector sees a huge black widow spider inside the crevice, as well as a bunch of husks of dead roaches, but manages to grab the bag without being bitten.

Yes, everyone is, at this point, pretty dog-tired. The dawn is starting to lighten the sky, through the window on the eastern wall in this bed room.

Also, the hallway keeps going to the north past the door to this room, btw... I think his map shows that.

Thorin says, "before going to bed I suggest we finish destroying those eggs and make a complete search of the rooms that are open to us. Than maybe crash out in this wizard's room."

"If we have a thief, in the party, maybe he can set an alarm trap near the steps by tieing off rope across the top of them and attach something that will make noise on the rope. So if something bumps the rope it will alarm us."

Fosco pipes in. "We still have two doors to our north and I suggest we explore those before resting. I would feel safer if this entire area was clear of nasties before sleep took us."

Flavia is already standing the most northwards, I think. She'll listen at those northern doors...

Darrow gets to his feet. "If we have a thief among us, I suggest we don't all simply go to sleep, but that at least one of us at a time stays awake and alert..."

"I'll take first watch," says Chendriss. "There is much to ponder, and I don't think I could go to sleep right away, in any case."

Hector is just starting to nod off on his feet.

Both northern doors are slightly ajar... thy are also metal and have the same strange plates on the wall next to the handles. Flavia hears nothing coming from inside either one. Peering through the crack, it looks like the one to the west is empty. The one to the north seems to house a laboratory of some sort.
