Found an ... unusual "Hole in the Sky" writeup

I've wanted to run this module for months, but my group isn't crazy about the mortality rate in DCC. To get a fix while trying to convince them, I went looking for other people's experiences with the adventure, and when I Googled "A Hole in the Sky" writeup "Dungeon Crawl Classics," this came up as one of the top links:

I thought it was a riot, although I don't entirely know what to make of the author. I'm guessing they have some interesting issues. (Not judging, just ... hmm.)

Awesome! Sounds like fun. I'm going to pass this on to my players who just finished Hole in the Sky last week.

Right, which I guess means there's only one real person playing? But damn if their game doesn't sound like more fun than some of the campaigns I've run or played in ... :?

Was it as much of a blast as it seems like from reading the module?

Oh man, I started reading this and spoiled the module, lol. It was just too good to stop reading at the spoiler alert!

On the plus side, it doesn’t give away the ending. But on the minus side, I’d sure like to read how the rest of the module turned out for them!

Yeah, it was fun. It took us three sessions to play the whole thing. In the first session, most of the party died.

And then at the second session, almost all the players who were there for the first forgot their character sheets. So I decided that time had skipped forward several years. The Lady in Blue had gathered up another group of zeros to go on the quest. The remaining PCs from the first session had "gone native" and were now living with the rest of the mutants inside the prison. I said they each had aged 1d6 years, changed alignment to Chaos, were starting to mutate, and lost all their possessions except one club each.

In the third session, the consolidated group finished exploring the prison and actually killed Cur Maxima, which I couldn't believe. And then they completed the adventure and returned to take their spins at the wheel.

At least one of them is taking the Lady in Blue as a patron, which is why I wanted to gather the notes together on this thread and turn them into a PDF: http://goodman-games.com/forums/viewtop ... 78&t=47970

Sounds like fun several sessions. I would have assumed Cur Maxima was way beyond killing for a funnel party too, but the writeup at the link made it sound plausible that they got him down by half his hit-points before they'd even leveled.

Did anybody get a really good result out of the wheel?

so i was wondering, does anybody even read my blog besides the like, two people who usually comment on it, and i looked at my statistics page and saw i'd been linked to and omg, i cannot believe anyone found my writeup of this adventure!

sorry i never went back and finished it ... i am terrible at starting things and dropping them again. basically what happened was, we got to the top and we killed the horrible scarester thing and my funnest character fanansiver the chaotic elf burned up all his luck in the boss fight and then blew some saves and fell to his doom. after that the whole place was coming down around our ears but three of the other characters made it out alive and got to use the cosmic wheelamajig and ended up with some pretty badass stat boosts like the joe average dude getting a 17 strength (and turning into a girl).

anyways, i am tickled all kinds of pink that people seem to have liked the story of me losing my rpginity so thank you very much to everybody on this thread!
