Lay on Hands and Ability Score Damage

Post by thrashtronaut »

New DCC Judge here! I've had one session so far and I'm really enjoying it. I do have a question though and my searches have proven fruitless in finding an answer:
Can a Cleric heal ability score damage with Lay on Hands? The Core Rulebook doesn't explicitly say yes or no. I know it does say it can be healed by bed rest, much like regular HP, but it doesn't say anything about prohibiting healing in other ways.

I understand that ability score damage that may be caused by conditions can be healed by Lay on Hands, but I'm curious about ability score damage without any specific physical conditions (maybe it's not even a thing?).

Thanks in advance!

I also say no, but it's never come up in gameplay for me.

I guess I'd buck the trend and say it's do-able. I mean, the rules even say you can heal spellburn (but it's just a really, really bad idea to try).

If you want to allow but discourage it, have each point require a result of 4 dice of healing, which makes it statistically likely to result in deity disapproval if the cleric keeps rolling to heal any sizable number of points.

This is the ballpark of the camp I'm in -- but it's never actually come up so far.
