Firearms?

Post by Griffith »

Are there official rules for firearms? I see issue 8 of Crawl! fanzine has rules for firearms.
What would those in the know recommend?

Why does it has to be official? DCCRPG is all about DIY and community. Check out Crawl #8, it has guns. I'm pretty sure Crawljammer has laser guns too.

Not official (other than officially awesome), but Black Powder, Black Magic has Old West era firearms.

Drongo also has rules for firearms (both regular and sci-fi).

Let us not forget that Crawling Under a Broken Moon and Transylvanian Adventures also have firearms rules. Mix, match, combine, and use the crit/fumble tables you like best!

If you want my overall advice....

The Crawl issue is gold.
High Calibre Hijinks is great.
BPBM Fanning Mighty Deed rocks.
The rules in Transylvania Adventures rock.
Drongo has some very, very cool rules for energy weapons.

Everything else is icing on the cake, but there is some very nice icing, and some very nice cake.

If I were to be considering price point, I would just get the Crawl Firearms issue plus HCH. After that, it very much depends upon your particular interests. CuaBM, for instance, considers the state that a scavenged weapon might be in, and does a great job with it.

my personal favorite is TA that combines dcc randomnes with lethal hysterics of the actual firefight. in a way it reminded me of the unknown armies firearms rules.

TA's firearms rules are great, but I was also trying to take things like price point into account. That said, there are a lot of other good things in TA that could be stolen by a judge running any form of DCC.
