Is there a conversion guide somewhere for Swords & Wizardry monsters to DCC? I've been looking for awhile now, but no luck yet.
Thanks

There are no exact conversion guides, but you can take their Hit Dice and rework stuff from there. Just use common sense and don't be afraid about balance - there's no such thing in DCC RPG, the experience system handles risk vs reward. You might also find useful the Monster Helper.
Vorpal Mace: a humble rpg blog with some DCC-related stuff.

Hmmm.....Then let me rephrase the question. Since both S&W and DCC are part of the OSR, would it be close to the original intent of whatever encounter we're dealing with to just use S&W monsters straight with DCC characters, or is there something I need to be aware of? I realize that balance is not an issue, but in some ways that makes thinking about conversion harder since there's no target to aim at.

I tend to use S&W monsters (or C&C or AD&D or other D&D variant) pretty much as written and have few issues with this. Sometimes I find that monsters might be a little easier or tougher than expected, but that's okay.Guang wrote:Hmmm.....Then let me rephrase the question. I find that a DCC character level is roughly equal to two AD&D levels, if that helps, so if you want your DCC characters to fight a DCC 5th level monster it's more like 10th level in AD&D.

Thanks. I was really hoping to get an answer like this.finarvyn wrote:I tend to use S&W monsters (or C&C or AD&D or other D&D variant) pretty much as written and have few issues with this.
