Black Powder Black Magic Firearms clarification.

Post by Jester4108 »

Sorry if this is in the wrong spot, seemed like a toss up between here and rules discussion.

The rules for firearms in BPBM #1 state that a firearm can only fire once per round but if it is semi auto then it can fire 3 shots with the first shot at -1d the second at -2d and the third at -3d with the warrior able to do a mighty deed to mitigate these penalties and fire up to six shots at no penalty with a deed die rolling over 10.

I'm trying to figure out how that works with multiple action dice. Because exact wording a level 6 cleric could take 2 shots from their pistol for both their action dice (d20, d14) at d16 and d10. But how it is written seems to suggest its actually per action die and not per round so the same cleric could fire all six shots: First action die (20) 3 shots at d16, d14 and d12. Second action die (14) 3 shots at d12, d10, d8.
DCC RPG: So nice, i buyed it thrice!

Eagerly awaiting the release of MCC!

Dice are to Gamers as Gold is to Dragons.

Unofficial answer:

Most guns can only fire 1/round regardless of you Action Dice.

Semi-autos still only fire 3/round, but if your other Action Die is better than the penalty for later shots, you can use it.

Alternate Unofficial answer for bad-ass hombres:

The gun can fire 1/round per Action Die, or 3/round per Action Die.

Use whichever your judge decides. If you are the judge, use whichever you decide. Note that using the alternate answer can increase the chance of fumbles dramatically. A "1" is still a fumble if you are rolling on 1d10, but a "10" is not a crit!
SoBH pbp:

Cathbad the Meek (herbalist Wizard 1): AC 9; 4 hp; S 7, A 7, St 10, P 17, I 13, L 8; Neutral; Club, herbs, 50' rope, 50 cp; -1 to melee attack rolls. Hideous scar.
