I’ve gotten a lot of questions concerning DCC collectibility and editions, so I’ve started this sticky thread to answer some of them. Feel free to chime in with comments or additional questions that aren’t answered here.
How Do I Know if It’s a Reprint?
This question has started to crop up as the DCCs are moving into second and third printings. Here’s a quick guide to these books as they’re being reprinted. Remind me to update this thread as more come out!
DCC #0: Legends are Made, not Born: This module has had two printings. The first printing was for Dundracon 2004. It features the old Goodman Games logo and a cover that’s a little more lime green than the second printing, which was released to stores in late 2004. The second printing features the new Goodman Games logo.
DCC #1: Idylls of the Rat King: The first printing featured cover art by Jeff Doten and uses 3.0 rules. The second printing featured cover art by William McAusland and uses 3.5 rules. The third printing features cover art by Jim Holloway and is not materially different from prior printings.
DCC #2: The Lost Vault of Tsathzar Rho: In its third printing. The first printing featured cover art by Rob Thomas and uses 3.0 rules. The second printing features cover art by Jim Holloway and uses 3.5 rules. The third printing is similar to the second but has different colored text on the cover.
DCC #3: The Mysterious Tower: In its second printing. The two printings are identical except the second features the phrase “second printing” at the end of the legal text on page 27.
DCC #4: Bloody Jack’s Gold: In its second printing. The two printings are identical except the second features the phrase “second printing” at the end of the legal text on page 30.
DCC #5: Aerie of the Crow God: In its second printing. Both editions feature similar but different cover art by Chuck Whelon. The second printing is an expanded 64 pages with the sequel adventure Seed of Evil.
DCC #6: Temple of the Dragon Cult: In its second printing. The first printing features the old Goodman Games logo; the second printing has the new logo.

Is DCC #3.5 Real?
Yes, it’s the convention special from Gen Con 2003. If you’re a collector, this is the one to get – authored by Dave Arneson, with most copies autographed by him at Gen Con. Copies have sold on EBay for $200+. (Makes me wish I saved a few!)
What are the Other Con Specials?
In addition to #3.5, there is also #20.5: Mask of Death, from Gen Con 2005 (tied to the new film The Gamers: Dorkness Rising). We’ve produced two convention specials for Dundracon: #0: Legends are Made, Not Born for Dundracon 2004, and #17.5: War of the Witch Queen for Dundracon 2005. Finally, there is the 1E edition of #12.5: Iron Crypt of the Heretics, produced for Gen Con 2006.
Anything Else?
If there are other collector questions, here is the place to ask them – just let me know!
