Hi all! I am new to this group and I have a quick question. What is Appendix N? Which book or set of rules is it from? Many thanks for you help and kind reply.

Welcome! :)

You can find it in 1st edition AD&D's Dungeon Master's Guide, on page 224.

It's a list of the books that inspired Gary Gygax to create D&D. It's basically a bibliography of classic fantasy literature from the turn of the century through roughly the mid-60's and early 1970's. There are a few duds in there but for the most part you can't go wrong reading the books in Appendix N - they are great inspirations for any fantasy enthusiast.
