DCC RPG Cover Art

Post by goodmangames »

Now that the cover art is up on the main web site, I just have to give a public shout-out to cover artist Doug Kovacs. He really did a wonderful job of capturing the spirit of adventure that I'd like to convey with DCC RPG. Dungeon crawling is of course about combat and monsters and treasure, but the true classics of the genre always have a sense of wonder and "the unknown," a feeling that something magical and mysterious is right around the corner. Doug's cover captures this perfectly -- what's behind the door-face? How does the hero reach it? Why does the staircase lead to nowhere? What are the indentations for on the ground in front of the door? And of course: why does this hero have a wand and a sword?

Nicely done, Doug!

The tiny cover icon looked pretty sweet, but the larger version of the cover showed up as a red x for me. :? Hopefully it's just temproary....

I especially like that door. It's evocative and stirs the imagination.

Each of these modules is self-contained. No other books are required other than the three AD&D rulebooks (or a similar set of rules if you prefer).

Ah ... now I can see the image! 8)

I agree about the door. It really makes you want to open it and see what's on the other side.

Before I would poke too far about the door, I'd be looking carefully into the mist below the staircases!

Heck, I'd need some sort of DEX stat-check just to walk successfully down those stairs without falling into the misty area.
