Skull & Crossbones Classics

Post by Vort »

I've come across a reference to Bob Brinkman's "Skull & Crossbones Classics", described as the Golden Age of Piracy driven by DCC. Does anyone know what this is exactly? Is it a module? A setting? A complete DCC derivative (like Dark Trails)? Is it just DCC on ships? Searching has turned up scant information: only mentions of playtesting back in 2016 and 2018 but nothing illuminating. Has anyone played this?

I've not played it, but I've talked to Bob about it. My impression was that his intent is to do a full derivative, not a DCC supplement, and it would be geared more towards historical piracy and not fantasy piracy (no magic or demi-humans).

I don't think he hangs out on these forums, but if you ask on the Facebook DCC group you might get information straight from his mouth.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't there something in the GaryCon event schedule for this? Hold on a sec...

Bob is running two session of this:

"A storm-tossed ship on the wine-dark sea...
Castaways on a island, far from the shipping lanes...
The feeling that you are not alone...
Sometimes, even the hardest crew of cutthroats can come to know fear.

Come explore adventure set in the Golden Age of Piracy, driven by the Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG."

Thanks, both. Yeah, I had been wondering if it was just a setting or module, or if it was indeed a full derivative. Intriguing.
And the GaryCon listing is where I saw it listed. But then, I wondered how it'd be different than just running DCC with a bunch of sailors. I guess I'll have to play to find out. ;)
