New DCC guy here, so please bear with stupid questions
I read a lot about people running funnel games and ever 1st level games, but how does DCC handle for longer campaign style games?

No worse than any other fantasy RPG. If you don't mind listening to actual play recordings, you might want to check out the Iron Tavern. You can follow along an entire DCC RPG campaign that began as a zero-level funnel and rose into the high levels of play.

Re: DCC adventures beyond the funnel
I have been running a campaign for a while now...and most characters are up to level 3. It seems to work fine for campaign play. If anything, I think it is better because of patron taint, deity disapproval, etc. which often lead to side quests for the party. I have never had a problem stringing the published adventures together, and supplementing with my own stuff. And I agree with Michael that the Iron Tavern actual play helped me a lot with getting the hand of running a DCC campaign.

I've ran a sandbox campaign with it. It was glorious, with 30 casualties (mostly 0 levels, though).

i've run two plus years kingmaker conversion with dcc rules. if nothing else i feel that dcc is much easier to sustain for a long run than PF.

I think the biggest challenge is de-programming players used to game systems that award a lot of class mechanics at level-up. DCC emphasizes narrative and questing for increasing powers. Real nice IMO.

+1
DCC is more about simply surviving than what treasure and baubles you can accumulate. The funnel is important because it sets the tone; when PC's are dying left, right and centre the players tend to get the lethality of the game pretty quick and they soon regard booty as a delightful bonus rather than a routine event.
