The opening paragraph in the DCC RPGadventures is all wrong!

Post by cthulhudarren »

"Remember the good old days, when adventures
were underground, NPCs were there to be killed,
and the finale of every dungeon was the dragon
on the 20th level? Those days are back. Dungeon Crawl
Classics adventures don’t waste your time with long-winded
speeches, weird campaign settings, or NPCs who aren’t
meant to be killed. Each adventure is 100% good, solid
dungeon crawl, with the monsters you know, the traps you
remember, and the secret doors you know are there somewhere."

This is the opening text for Peril on the Purple Planet. Why does this still get used when it is contrary to what DCC RPG stands for? There are weird campaign settings, non dungeon crawls, NPC's who live, and a lot of monsters you do not know!

I know this was used for former edition modules, but this ain't right for DCC RPG!

Remember the good old days, when adventures were unpredictable, NPCs might be anyone, and the finale of every dungeon was an encounter you remembered and talked about years later? Those days are back. Dungeon Crawl Classics adventures don’t waste your time with the expected. Each adventure is 100% good, solid Appendix N-style mayhem, with unknown monsters, traps to catch the unwary, and secret doors you hope are there somewhere.

Ok... This is what DCC is to me...

Remember the good old days of gaming when adventurers arose from humble obscurity to become gritty, hard-boiled heroes of their realms? Remember when beloved characters were shown no remorse, suffering horrible deaths at the hands of mysterious creatures and devilish traps?
Those days are back! Dungeon Crawl Classics adventures hearken back to the days when gold was worth dying for, monsters were true spectacles and that red dragon at the 20th level was a deadly behemoth to be feared.
So it's time to lace up those wolf-hide boots and sharpen that bastard sword. Each DCC adventure is 100% old-school goodness for a new generation, with unrelenting dungeon crawls, decrepit keeps and other-worldly whereabouts unknown. This is DCC... abandon hope all ye who enter here!

Just a few ideas:

Remember the good old days when...

Elf was a class
No one knew how many hit points or what vulnerabilities the monster had
You didn't need a Cray supercomputer to create a player character
Your character could die in the blink of an eye
We rolled 3d6 in order
Magic was mysterious and unpredictable
