What'z your favorite Dwarf look?

Post by dark cauliflower »

I had to tink about this for awhile but... Dwarf's should look like Ukko from Slaine does. Ugly and mean and greedy! Beards are not necessary.

where is your dwarf inspiration from?

Gimli in the Lord of the Rings. Actually, before Gimli I was inspired by Thorin Oakenshield from the Hobbit.

Back in the 1970's, I had a couple year span when all I played was dwarves.

yeah, I tink early RPG experiences can be shaped by other things besides the game. I had the Oakenbutt guy influence for awhile too.

Today I'd want to do an Ukko, who just wants a big honkin pile of gold!

This is a good one:

And I've always liked the uniquely strange Rankin-Bass dwarves as well:

I too veer towards the classic long beard Gimli in LOTR movie look.
Thorin in the Hobbit movies looks more Klingon to me, but some of them look right.

This dwarf illo is pretty bad ass:

Any look that is not SLIM. Some of the dwarves from the Hobbit movie do not look like dwarves. They should be stocky more than anything.

This is basically source number 1 for my opinion on what dwarves should look like - though I am completely cool with them appearing better groomed and wearing more clothing.

The Dwarf from LotFP is pretty fantastic, as shown above.

Also the bald dwarves from Dark Sun.

yeah, sum of em look like guyz with beards. I tink they did that because they want the general audience to be able to relate to the dwarfs better. I haven't seen the movie yet so I can't say what they will look like on the big screen.

Yes, exactly like that.

One might wonder, is that where the phrase "no pain, no gain," originates?
