If you're talking about the use of the term 'license' in the quote above, he's talking about licensing the Dungeon Crawl Classics name, with which to label the package of dice -- not licensing the dice themselves. In other words, they won't be sold as "100% Authentic DCC Dice!", but as some other name, instead.

here's what I don't get: the images make it look like hte numbers aren't centered on the flat faces of the dice.
... how do you read them, or get the results if the numbers don't line up? what am I not getting.

also, congrats on blowing away your goals so dramatically!

From what I understand, the shapes don't have flat, parallel, opposite sides (e.g., d7 doesn't have an even number of sides, like the d12, for example). So whichever of the flat sides settles on your table, you read the opposite vertices, which have the numbers running across them. Basically you read the highest point, as you would on other dice -- but in this case, it's not flat.

Freaky!

My preference is for d14s numbered 1-7 twice.

Finally got my dice for backing the project. I opted for mostly d18s & d22s but added a d7 and a 6-sided d3, too:

I plan on using them (the d18s & the d22s) to convey minor penalties or bonuses when a drop to a d16 (or a bump up to d24) seems too steep.

Just saw a post in their KS's comments section that concerned me, and it was from a statistician claiming that the dice seem to be heavily biased and so do not roll very randomly. He said he'll be testing them, but if it is true, it would be a deal breaker for me. If true, I'll definitely go for a koplow set because they're at least proven to be pretty reliable (if not as reliable as GS dice).

I understand that, as I am the designer of those dice, my words will be taken carefully: I would react the same way :) .
But concerning the fairness, I wanted to add that I made some trials myself (the famous Chi Squared tests), and, for instance, the spherical D7 works pretty well, and - in my case - much better than the "traditional" pentagonal prism.
So, now that the dice are available, I guess that the best way to have one's own opinion on the topic, is to try them :D !

Do you have a distributor in the USA?

I think that currently those dice are only available online. But if you are from the US and you order anything from Impact Miniatures' website, my uderstanding is that Tom Anders himself will send your order from Indianapolis.
