Books arrived...now I am pissed!
I ordered both the collectors and standard edition books and they arrived today. Boy was I happy! Only to find after opening the box ALL the corners were bent and some slightly torn via shipping/packaging. What gives? Why could you not pack them the way AMAZON.COM does? They place the books on sturdy cardboard, that is little larger than the books, and wrap the cardboard and books together. Then place the wrapped books into a larger box so as the coners are protected.
So upset I can not even type now...

Hmm . . What is the mature way to handle this?
A) Call/email CS and calmly tell them the problem and give them a chance to correct it, or
B) get pissed and rant on the message boards?

LOL I must admit my answer would be that too. Sounds like the USPS "went postal" on your order pun intended. That completely blows!DimitriX wrote:I go for:

Re: Books arrived...now I am pissed!
I was worried when I saw the type of box the book came in because in my own
experience the USPS is awfully good at banging box corners and bending up
books inside. Luckily my copy was fine but yeah, you should give customer
service the opportunity to make it right before getting TOO upset, these things
do happen.
And Amazon's shipping is no guarantee either, I recently sent back 3 copies
of the same Paizo book to Amazon that kept arriving with tears and prangs
in the cover...it's frustrating being a collector sometimes.

At this point, I'd be happy if the book showed up on fire...as long as it was burning slow enough for me to read it. Haven't checked the mail today, yet...

Yeah, mine has slightly bent corners, but nothing that wouldn't happen after a couple weeks of use anyway.

I had the same experience and I certainly expected the packaging to be better. Having said that, I'm more of a gamer than a collector and my excitement about using this great, inspiring game in actual play far outweighs my desire to have it look pretty.mythfish wrote:Yeah, mine has slightly bent corners, but nothing that wouldn't happen after a couple weeks of use anyway.
For someone who leans the other way, though, I can appreciate being disappointed.

And also remember, that your funnel was quite short compared to mine.

Still anxiously awaiting my DCC copy. I received the Pathfinder core rulebook from Amazon with a partially smashed corner, but the outer box was fine. It's not always the USPS, and no system is ever 100% perfect.

And it hasn't even been 24 hours.

I have to admit, this is funny.jmucchiello wrote:Remember, not all books survive the funnel.
Not the thread, of course, and I'm hoping that other copies arrive without damage.

Re: Books arrived...now I am pissed!
Some folk parted with a lot of money so they could own a nice 'limited edition'. The standard copy, is probably the one that's going to get bashed around a bit. Intentional of course, because the limited edition is the one he would like to keep for a very long time. It's special by default. Not too much to ask that it looks tidy on the shelf.fjw70 wrote:Hmm . . What is the mature way to handle this?

You berating him for venting is uncalled for in my book.
Personally I think he had every right to vent - pointless as it was.

Re: Books arrived...now I am pissed!
Right, but it's not like Goodman Games intentionally sent him a dinged up copy. I can understand venting when anticipation levels are this high, but starting a topic for it is a little excessive when we already have a thread of people showcasing their books.Thane wrote:Some folk parted with a lot of money so they could own a nice 'limited edition'. None of the venting is going to solve the problem.

I'm sure they didn't.Vanguard wrote:Right, but it's not like Goodman Games intentionally sent him a dinged up copy.
