PC Equipment Packages for Starting Characters
Next project is starting character equipment packages.
I'm thinking I will separate them by social class and template, with a basic list including such items that can be acquired easily at their starting Wealth, and with expansions to the basic list for each based upon taking 10 and taking 20.
Any thoughts?

OK, so it's not entirely complete, but it's posted now and any feedback would be welcomed...not sure what to place for the Take 20 section for a few of them, after all...what else could you need when you have everything already??
Find the word .doc here http://www.geocities.com/ed_dornerjr/Maded.html , and a PDF will replace eventually when I have everything in there I can think of.

The Equipement packages look good
Hey there
I skim read over them before heading into work today (Yay)
I like how they are set up
Good way for intro characters especially, helps to eliminate the what do I do questions also.
I did notice the Variant XP Idea, very nice there.
So my question is do you only use the 10-20% of the latest adventure, or total XP not spent to advance?
How do you see that?
Personally I would have 2 XP pools
One for advancement
One for the Variant Training
How I would do it
How did you intend it is the more pertinent question?

The Variant XP is spent from the larger XP pool the character has...my own method generally works well only when the characters in question are earning 100+ XP in an adventure, and they won't be able to do that and buy much in the way of feats and skills until 3rd plus level.
But Gamesmasters vary, and if you want you could be allowing them 50% or more, whatever suits your style.

Real quick incredibly inane question to an old thread. What on earth is a Shymphonica. My wife's character is an Idle Rich upper Class Scope rider and we saw that (and the pony, thank you) and have made all sorts of guesses as to what it might be. Is it in a book that we're not noticing?

Ahhh
without asking Ed I think he meant a musical device. I will post it to him to answer for sure since I am not totally positive.
