Your favorite DCC art

Post by goodmangames »

I'm working on a project and I'm curious to find out what your favorite DCC color art is. It can be any DCC art, as long as it's color -- either front/back covers from any DCC, or some of the interiors from DCC #13: Crypt of the Devil Lich. Please post here and let me know!

Thanks,
Joseph

My favorite DCC cover and style of cover is The Curse of the Emerald Cobra. It has a comic book style to it that I really like.

But I also really dig some of the Devil Lich interiors such as Skeletor and his friends!

(Those are links, by the way—click 'em!)

That's cool - those are my two favorites, too. :)

Here's my two cents worth!

Top Three
1) Erol Otus - #3 The Mysterious Tower (front cover)
2) Erol Otus - #4 Bloody Jack's Gold (front cover)
3) James Holloway - #21 Assault On Stormbringer Castle (back cover)

There are some really good covers, front & back, in this collection so far (actually, all them are!). Can't wait to see what's in the future!

I second that! The back cover captures that moment of discovery --- through the snow, the PCs sight the crypts. AWESOME!

(Plus the subliminal skull/snow on rocks is really, really, really cool.)

For reasons I can't explain my top pick is Rob Thomas' cover art on the original DCC#2: The Lost Vault of Tsathzar Rho. It is so moody. It was this cover that first got me to lay down money on a Goodman Games product. Here's the top ten list (with one being best):

1. Rob Thomas' cover art to DCC#2 (original version).
2. Erol Otus' cover art to DCC#10 -- The Sunless Garden.
3. Leo Winstead's back cover art to DCC#17 -- Legacy of the Savage King.
4. Erol Otus' cover art to DCC#4 -- Bloody Jack's Gold
5. Leo Winstead's cover art to DCC#12.5 -- Iron Crypt of the Heretics.
6. Erol Otus' cover art to DCC#18 -- Citadel of the Demon Prince.
7. Jim Pavelec's cover art to DCC#12 -- The Blackguard's Revenge.
8. Jeff Doten's back cover art to DCC#1 (original) -- Idylls of the Rat King
9. Wm. McAusland's back cover art to DCC#12.5
10. Erol Otus' cover art to DCC#8 -- Mysteries of the Drow

This is through DCC#20.

The drawing of the Oracle Room from Crypt of the Devil Lich.

The most unnerving things I can encounter as a player are things that "just don't look right." In a dungeon full of weird stuff, this room was the most unsettling one in the module, and the art got the flavor just right.

I personally like all of the inside black & white artwork throughout the DCCs...

...that cartoony look reminds me of the art inside of the 1st edition Dm's and Player's guides, and really brings out that 1st edition feel.

Mr. Goodman's request is about the color art only (at least on this thread).

I agree, I enjoy the interior art as well. Let's face it, when it comes to quality adventures, DCCs is among the best.
